Hi,

I have a website www.rozanacuizine.com and would like to get people to order my sauces. How do I go about doing this? I have been told to link to other sites but how do I get other sites to link up?

Thanks

Hi Saucelady,
You can search in google to find the websites which related to your biz with the keywords such as restaurants, cafe, chefs, recipes, cooking, etc. If you are interested in some of them, then try to contact the webmaster of each website. You can send an email or a letter to the webmasters which explained that you are interested in their website and ask them to link your website to their websites and you will do link reciprocally.

Another suggestions, find some online forum which topics related to your biz, such as chefs forums, etc. Be active in the forum and put the signature of your website. Some forums may allow us to put the signature. Another way is what you did ... alywas show your url in any discussions..

Newsletter is also a very important to let them know that you are still exist. Probably you can share some chefs tips or recipes in a newsletter which you can make weekly, bi-weekly, or at least 1 month.

In off-line, give some free samples to some chefs, and let them promote your sauce if they like.  Word of mouth, specially from chefs will be worthable to advertise your sauce, because your biz is about `TASTE`.....

Good luck!

Hello Saucelady,

Looks like you have a pretty interesting product. In order to get the traffic, we must first decide who your ideal customer is. The problem most people make is assuming everybody would be their customer or assuming all people who eat meat would be "my customer".

Also, another thing to consider would be to study your product and develop your USP (Unique Selling Proposition). In other words, what makes your meat sauces different than the competition. Or more importantly, why should I purchase your meat sauce versus the other 10 brands that are on the market. Once you figure out your USP, then I`d use that message in all of my advertisements.

For starters, it seems that your product could be ideal for a variety of people with different needs, for example, in your description, I came across the following sentence:

Our sauces are all natural, contain no sugar and are very low in sodium.

I can think of about 3 groups of prospects you can go after right away and they`d probably be most likely to buy.

You could develop your USP around that and basically find a market like `yesterday`. Obviously, you`d guide those group of people to a special landing page within your website so you can talk to them in their language.

I came across the following testimonial on your web site:

I am a vegan and am always looking for sauces to jazz up my tofu and vegetable dishes. You can only imagine how excited I was when a friend of mine gave me both your sauces as a gift. My whole family and I love them they are simply the best! Even my little boy will not eat his tofu without your sauce which in it self is amazing. Thanks so much. Rosemary

I also came across this statement you had written on your site:

Vegan and vegetarians alike now are using our sauces in all their meals.

That`s another group of people you can go after. Obviously, you`ll have to redirect them to another page on your site (or another site altogether) because they`ll probably click right after because your site talks about (MEAT & SEAFOOD sauces), so you`ll have to create a landing page or something talking `their` language.

Another group of people obviously would be people who eat lots of seafood...

For starters, figure out who your customers are, and once you do that, finding the customers/prospects will be extremely easy. But without knowing who your customers are, you`ll waste tons of money, time and resources bringing the wrong, unqualified people to the web site.

Pick your niche, create a campaign around that niche group, and market it. Once you get that going, then you could easily take that "model" and go after the other prospects who are most likely to buy your product. But for now, pick one and work it; don`t try doing all of them at the same time, yet....

Here’s an example of how powerful a USP can be if correctly defined and marketed:

Many years ago, two brothers needed to put themselves through college so they decided to buy into an existing pizza business. When they purchased the business, they bought it in a very competitive arena.

After awhile, the business was losing money and one of the brothers decided to get out of the business and sold his remaining portion to the other brother.

The remaining brother was determined to make the business work and in the process, he developed a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) that literally changed the pizza industry.

“HOT, FRESH PIZZA DELIVERED IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS!”

Do I need to tell you the name of this company? Probably not!

And if you walked outside and asked 50 people to say the first word that comes to mind when you utter the words “HOT, FRESH PIZZA DELIVERED IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS!” what do you think they’ll say?

Largely because of a simple business model and a simple USP that differentiated itself from all its competitors, Dominoes became the leader in the pizza industry despite having thousands of local competitors all across the country.

If your pizza wasn’t delivered on time, you didn’t have to pay.

Please note, Dominos didn’t promise “the greatest tasting pizza” or lots of tomato sauce or extra toppings. Dominos stuck to one major promise … we’ll get it to you while it’s still hot and fresh…and we guarantee it!

A strong USP can literally explode your revenues and take your business to the top if you define and market the right message!

And because a USP can make such a major difference to your business, it’s extremely important that you must create a strong USP for your business.

No one can come up with your USP, this is something only you can do. People can help you define it and put it into powerful words, but you must take for responsibility for developing it.

Try it and see what happens.

You can drive traffic to your site in a hanfull of ways:

1. SEO - Search Engine Optimization of your site within the indexed results of a search.
2. Active Advertising - on Engine results (PPC)
3. Affiliation - with other sites of your market; maybe even a link swap.
4. CONTENT - have your site`s content dynamic enough to bring back your viewers.
5. Mail notifications - though lists of people on the MSN, Yahoo, Gmail, whatever, groops that Opt to have email sent to them about your market.

Hope that helps, (your site was down when I tried to view it.)

Sauce Lady,

Before you start trying to trade and build links you should optimize your website better. I would start by integrating the store into the original website. Right now the store has completely different look and feel from the rest of the site. Its also kinda hard to find. You want visitors to your site to be able to buy within one click from your homepage. Considering that you only have two sauces right now I would suggest having the products and the option to buy directly at your homepage (http://www.rozanacuizine.com/).

One other unrelated thought I had after reading cartess3`s post is to have a few different labeling of your sauces. I noticed that the sauce bottle currently reads "Seafood Marinade and Sauce". I think it will be hard to sell to Vegans or Vegetarians if the sauce is label as being for seafood.

You all are so generous in taking the time to respond & help with info.  Besides the person asking the question, all of us visiting the forum benefit from the exchange.  I invented & market a gardening tool (www.wedgie.biz) & have been surprised at how I`ve been linked to other websites without even asking.  I think webmasters do it knowing it raises THEM in the search engine rankings as well.  So my advice is -- network, network, network & get people to look at your website.  If they like what they see, you`ll get those links.

A couple of suggestions:

1. I don`t know what kind of deal you have worked out with your e-commerce provider but it`s really not user-friendly. If someone wants to order online it takes several clicks to get to the store and ordering process -- I recently set up my wife`s business on Shopify and it works great.

Their cost per transaction is low and it integrates seamlessly with Google Checkout -- which is a big plus if you decide to use Google Adwords for your PPC campaign.

2. There are a ton of outlets online where you can get publicity and links to your site. I run an online word of mouth practice and do this regularly for my clients, big and small.

3. Affiliate programs - typically low to no cost to set up, other web sites create unique, trackable links that pay other webmasters for publishing your links. You are required to pay a % of the sale to the webmasters if a sale is made; if not then nothing lost.

Hope that helps, feel free to contact me directly.

Hi SauceLady,

One way to get links to your site is to write articles on sites such as Work.com and Squidoo.com. Work.com www.work.com is a community of small businesspeople who contribute business how-to guides - you can write your own guide about starting a food business, etc. and share your expertise. That will establish you as an expert, and you can add your link to your author profile. You could also mention your company in your guide, but to be most effective and credible, link to a variety of other resources too.

Good luck!

Regards,

Shara
