Wanted everyone to know I was away for a while due to my computer in the shop. Up and running and enjoying the posts.

Great  discussion. Whatever updates and changes made to this community, please keep in mind that there are those of us who use the site for other reasons which may not only be for posting.  Reading and exchanging on the forums are great - but sometimes I spend my time in the Watch & Listen section. There are many other things to do and learn from this site - don`t do too much.

I am quite new here and will confess to having been a "lurker" on occasion - I am trying to soak up everything I read (and there is alot), gain some knowledge before being comfortable to actually post something worthwhile to other members - I think "beginning" lurking is good. Gaining that confidence until I feel like I can "post" with the big boys and girls!

Yes, lurking for awhile probably gives many an opportunity to learn a lot while reading posts, blogs, articles and All the valuable information here on Sun.  I was so excited when I found SUN, I just jumped in.  Then, I felt terrible because the way I jumped in seemed like I was there to sell them beef jerky!

I have never been on Sun, to sell my product , even though they do give all members an opportunity to create a profile, and link their website.  That can only help create awareness about you, or/and your products and services.  Thanks Rich.

Than I realized after rereading these posts, that I actually said I liked Sun for networking on a radio interview.   But it`s not networking.  Sure, I have found many great entrepreneurs here that I have used their services, and some have bought our jerky.

But I like Sun, because of all that you can learn from others here.  Sometimes it`s great to  just bring up their site, and read some one`s informative post.   And  many members here have very knowledgeable and helpful answers, to posted questions.

So go ahead, jump in.  Everyone has something educational and/or interesting to say. You might not get comments back, but others probably took the time to read it and might learn from it.

Getting posts and especially quality posts is a common issue/challenge for forums.
There was even a forum that was started that focused how to make "your" (viewers`) forums successful... that forum sort of lost traffic after time.

Two things can certainly help (1) a lot of members - sheer numbers can keep a forum going, and (2) Interesting topics - subjects that connect with your (forum`s) target membership.

SUN does a good job in terms of providing information and resources that are useful to members and viewers. Articles, podcasts, etc can bring new viewers and keep them coming back.

Re: the forum part of SUN, there may be some room for improvement.
Moderation issues have occurred - but are not uncommon in forums. There are some people that START threads on a regular basis, ... there may be some topics that viewers want addressed but are shy about asking.

One area - web site reviews - I think could be more useful for people by using some standard evaluation questions / check-points to evaluate the site with the ability to add freehand comments. For example: there are some things that are important for a web site/pages to have in order to be successful / user friendly. Having viewers evaluate a web site against some standards would be helpful to the web site owner.

Great post Roland.  I`m sure moderation issues are difficult to take care of on  forums, at times. But most seem to (maybe, as quickly as they can) be taken care of on Sun.

And ohhhh, but , the spamming.  Let`s just post. :)

I was the same as you, I found the site and jumped right in. I needed to know how the community would respond and how I could learn as quickly as possible.

As I am a genuine Start Up, I have limited resources so I ask some pointed questions regarding help and information from time to time but my concern is that I may be offending some people. My hope is to move things along and at some point be able to use some of the wonderfully valuable services that exist on this site; PR, and better website are two of my most important wants down the road.

So I will keep reading, learning and asking; the information gained is invaluable to me.
