People who have bad filing systems usually want bad filing systems. Oh
sure, they *say* they want to be organized, but that`s just air-noise
and flapping lips.
What you might consider would be to go with the Office Organizer type
of business, where you organize and clean up an office on a 1-time
basis. You could have a repeating appointment, say, every 3 months for
various clients who want it. Or you could just come in, quote a price
and timeframe, do the job, and leave.
But I think you`re going to have a problem setting up filing systems
that`ll stay organized. Another option you could look at might be to
teach filing systems in general. There, you might be a contractor, or
you might work with local schools. Filing used to be a no-brainer, and
everyone learned how to alphabetize. Now, not so much.
I`d also consider blending not only paper filing systems, but teaching
computer filing systems as well. Few people seem to understand how to
organize a hard drive to find much of anything quickly. Then, moving
into corporate networks, you`d be looking at Document Management jobs.
Another area you might consider would be to combine your expertise in
setting up filing systems, with full-blown document management systems.
You might inquire about being a sales rep for a company like
Fieth,
or some other commercial management system. That way you could earn a
paycheck while building your instructional or contracting business.
Y`know?
