Hello,

I currently enjoy Dreamhost, & find them excellent for the kind of websites I need (E-commerce)

But depending on your needs and your skill level you might want to start with someone more basic. Originally I used Yahoo Hosting, and found it quite easy to get going with them, although eventually I outgrew Yahoo`s hosting packages.

You can also go with Yahoo.  They host and have free website building software.
