Hi,

We have a site up and running, and I`m looking for feedback.

Feedback on the site design, ease of use, and of the products we offer will be appreciated.

We have a very unique product offering, and before we spend a lot on PR and advertising, I would like some honest opinions.

Feel free to be brutal!

Unfortunately I have a hard time being brutal, but I`ll try my best.

I think that this part should be either scraped off, or should be less emphasized. Normally it`s the kind of thing you would see on a scam or spam site:

The Average Household In The US Will Have An
Insurance Claim Every 2 Years.

Will You Be One Of Them?

Would Paying Your $500, $1,000, or Even $2,500
Insurance Deductible Be Easy?

Once Only Available To Corporate Executives And Politicians, Nomoredeductibles.com Is Making This Exclusive Benefit Available To The People Who Really Need It.

Here is my BRUTAL opinion...

I`m just joking

First....go here and pay the $25 bucks and get yourself a decent logo, he has a very great gallery of previous works here: http://www.gotlogos.com

Next...I`d start over on those headlines -- if you can say "So What" after reading each headline, then that`s an indication your prospects will say the same thing and click off.

"The Average Household in the US Will Have An Insurance Claim Every 2 Years" --- SO WHAT?

"Once Only Available To Corporate Executives And Politicians, Nomoredeductibles.com Is Making This Exclusive Benefit Available To The People Who Really Need It. "

What was once only available to Corporate Executives & Politicians? What "Exclusive Benefit" are you talking about?

Once I get into the body, you go on and on about statistics and never got to the point. I stopped reading before I got to the solution.

Make the copy more "what`s in it for me", instead of quoting numbers and facts. That`s fine, but get my interest first and hook me. If your prospects don`t get past the headline and first paragraph, they`re gone. It`s your job to ensure they read through.

Hi Jim,

Great job on getting your site actually up and running.  If I were to offer you my honest opinion on your site it would be that it is too busy.  Is your goal to make sales, generate leads, or just offer content on deductibles.  It wasn`t clear to me in my first impression.

Maybe if I were a prospect it would make more sense to me, but even if i was, you had no way of knowing I visited your site.  Maybe a pop over will help you generate more leads.

Anyhow, its just my opinion.  I don`t know what the goal you have in mind for your site, but kudos for getting it up and out there.

To your success,

Dwayne Garrett [dwaynegarrett@payoffplanning.com]

There are some layout issues that bother me.  The header across the top is left-justified, the main content below is centered and the navigation buttons within that (products, about, terms...) are right-justified.  I would line everything up more in some way.  It makes looking around the page difficult.

I also see many repetitive links which is unneeded.  For example, there are 3 `Products` links on every page, even on the products page!  You can take some of that out to reduce visual clutter.

Layout issues aside, I think you need to work on your copy first.  There are a lot of grammatical errors throughout the site.  Especially, your use of excessive capital letters in sentences makes it very difficult to read.  You could also paraphrase your main points better to reduce the amount of long paragraphs your potential customers will have to sift through.

It`s a good start and I am sure you will get more useful advice!

I`m going to have to agree with some previous posters, your site is way too busy.

First and foremost, your homepage needs to clearly and succinctly state what your company offers and why I should want it. I know you were trying to make your copy stand out by putting it in bold and in red, but instead it`s kind of intimidating and somewhat generic. Make things pop by adding some white space and eliminating unnecessary elements, such as the flashing welcome scroll bar thing at the top. It`s distracting. I might also suggest putting "Top Sellers", which is a good idea by the way, with all the other links at the top.

"The Numbers", "The Impact", and "The Solution" all need to be condensed into one, short, paragraph. Most users don`t want to take the time to read all that. It requires too much work and may possibly cause them to give up and hop on over to your competitor`s website.

I like how you clearly define each product on the left sidebar. That`s easy to understand and I know exactly where I`m going when I click on it. However, it does get kind of confusing with the extra links at the top of the page. I would use the "products" link to explain a little more about each of your products rather than just providing a long list of what people can already get to by clicking the side links.

Phew, I hope that wasn`t too brutal. You have a fairly content heavy site, so remember organization is key.

I highly recommend this book. It`s an easy read and very useful! http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Make-Me-Think-Usability/dp/032134 4758

By the way, those $25 logos aren`t any better than what you already have.  If you want to update your logo, be professional and look for a designer that will cater to your business.  This doesn`t mean you have to spend a fortune on a logo but don`t go that cheap route.

But really, I would focus on re-writing your copy before you get into logos or branding.

You make a great point. I guess I should have clarified a little more about the logo issue. The logo that`s on the site is fine, but having a logo in a big white square box against his blue background is not fine. When I mentioned the $25 alternative, I simply meant you could at least get a logo that would blend in with your site and not be "separate" from the site like it is now.

It`s as if you simply took your logo and just slapped it on the page. Chances are, whoever created your logo has the original source files and they should be able to adjust it so it`ll blend in (transparent), with your existing header/layout.

Sorry for the confusion.

The guy in the picture in the banner looks like he`s in a porno movie involving nurses.

Oh....and whenever a Web site uses blue text with underline, most people assume that`s a link. Your headlines aren`t links.

I noticed your logo still has the background attached to it. If you open it in
photoshop, delete the background and then save it as a .png file, the
background will be gone.

If you need any help let me know, I do graphic design.
