I am trying to find a way to support a friend who is in the nanny/elderly care business on a casual basis.  This is just a part time income, but they would like to make a legitimate business out of it.  So far it looks like there is no way to pay taxes as a self employed person, but rather you must count yourself an employee of the family/household.  This makes it near impossible to convince a temporary client to go through the mess of setting up a "nanny" tax.

Is there a way to set up a business that would let someone work independently as a caregiver, and not force the client to have to deal with household employee tax?
