Hi All,

Just curious to know if anyone here has participated in the "Home-based 100 Competition".  My website came in 2nd place in this category for 2009 and has had terrific publicity since the press releases.

I would like to hear from any of you who did enter and how the contest may have helped your business.

It has been fantastic! When my site, my on line business, harale.com,was listed on the home page of MSN under the money  section, I had 20,000 hits in one day.

Rich had called me and mentioned that  the press would be huge and to be sure that my site could handle it and sure enough I had to call my hosting company to give me some more room for all the interest!

Yes, I should know Harale...I came in second to you!Smile

20,000 hits!  Wow!  I didn't get that many although I had a great surge in traffic for quite some time.

You deserved all of the attention you received for such a great idea...a great product...and a great cause.

Wish you continued success and blessings.

Hey Larry - my site didn't even come close - but that's okay - I just sold it this week to concentrate on my other sites anyway.

But I was SO HAPPY to see an SBI site owner take the prize!!!  How exciting and inspiring it was for me to see that!

I'll be entering both of my sites in the next competition, whenever that is, and hopefully I can get some good free press from it if it makes it at least into the top 10.  Wink

Thanks Karen,

I had entered my site the previous year and got zip, nada, nothing!  So it goes to show that persistence can pay off.

I wish you much success in next years contest and beyond.

i have not participated in SUN's, but i have participated in numerous city and state top 100 type lists. because i have several residences across the country, i can apply in several jurisdictions.  most of my businesses are online, which also helps tremendously.

a tip for those who are interested.  apply within your community.  you will get tremendous response, not only from local media (TV and radio), but also newspapers, PR and marketing personnel. it is a great way to propel your business tremendously.

i cannot begin to tell you the benefits my businesses have derived from this strategy, not only financially but in all kinds of ways

Hey Larry,  That is one of the most interesting websites I've seen.  It's a perfect niche business!

I love it!
