Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on a startup nation forum!

My name is Josh and I`ve started my own company in Saint Louis, MO.

Here`s the thing. I don`t belong in a cubicle from 9-5 under a set of rigid and strict rules. That`s very confining to me. I`m a creative person and my personality type is ENFP. If you follow that link, you`ll see a snapshot of what kind of work traits I have and careers best suited for my career type. So I figure instead of having a lot of odd jobs, I can do a lot of different projects under the umbrella of my own company.

Check out my startup nation profile for more information about me and my company. If you have and ideas, comments, suggestions, referrals, or whatever, just check me out!

Hi Josh :-) Welcome to SuN (StartupNation)
We seem to have similar interests, and you`re right, there are some people genetically incapable of working in cubicle. Those people usually show early signs of the problem by being incapable of acting nice in grade school, getting most report cards that say, "If ONLY this f**kup would pay attention," and "...not actualizing his/her potential...." and "talking too much."

One of the things I`ve found helpful is to settle on 1 particularly interesting idea, then carrying the logic forward to its end. Kathy and I came up with an idea for office-chair slipcovers, and we put it into motion. We did everything, built them, sold some, and saw it wasn`t a way to make money easily.

As a problem-solver, I suggested that we needed a solution (obviously), but then sat down and defined the solution. In other words, it works both ways; most people think of a problem and look for a solution, but you can think of a solution, then look for a problem.

Our solution in need of a problem was like a Jeopardy question: "It`s inexpensive to make, sells for an affordable price on a per-unit basis, and is easily repeatable."

The problem was: "What are navy signal flags?"

So maybe you could do something similar, and define a solution. Then you could look around for a question that fits your solution. :-)
