Yes Edgar, you have BS in many things.

Anyway, this whole thing is stupid. If twc wants to whine about how we are all meanies for critiquing his site after he asked us to, whatever. (And yes, this is where it took a turn, not when I said the emotion comment.) If pkamm wants everyone to inform him of their full credentials every time they post ... well, good luck with that buddy.

The point was this. The thread was about advice. We gave advice on the site, the advice was discredited because we`re a bunch of "meanies". We gave further advice about how passion in business is fine, and being excited about your products is good ... but getting emotionally attached to your product or marketing or whatever because "you worked hard on it" ... well, that`s a sure-fire path straight to failure (or at least to not realizing your full potential). But if anyone wants to ignore that, or ignore the lessons that some very amazing entrepreneurs have learned and share in various books about good business practices, and march right ahead ... knock yourselves out!

Really, this is a silly argument. Feel free to ignore all advice and we`ll feel free to keep our "meanness" to ourselves next time you guys ask for help or for a site review. Personally, I just don`t need to waste my time.

I`m certainly NEVER going to waste my valuable time giving another critique in this forum.

My time is better spent elsewhere.

I can`t believe how absolutely hostile, unappreciative, unfriendly and unwelcoming this forum is.

You guys can have it.

Yikes! I certainly didn`t mean for this discussion to turn into hard feelings. I was trying to argue for tact and understanding of other`s feelings -- especially when giving a site critique -- but also when discussing ideas and differences of opinion.

DKing & Nikole (and Netmom), I don`t agree with some of your opinions and analyses, but that is not to say that I don`t find value in those opinions and analyses. In fact, I do. And it would be a loss to this community for you to not to offer them any longer. So I hope you reconsider and continue to offer your valuable observations in this forum (if not this thread).

I grew up and now work in an academic environment where lively debate is common, and understood as a valued mechanism in the educational process. I hope that the spirit, tone and content of discussion here at SUN can be equally enriching.

I wonder if your reaction to the comments of others here may belie your own advice about "taking it personally."

Netmom, (AKA: entrepreneurship teacher and an Economic Development Director for many years),

Impressive title. Care to share with us where you held this title?

Nahhh. But when we develop a personal relationship I will be glad to provide you my CV and info so you can Google me. Until then I guess you will just have to trust me huh? The good news is that I don`t see the benefit of lying to strangers I`m not personally attached to, it would be a waste of emotion...

Pkamm,

I will assume that you didn`t mean the personal tone that your posts took because I didn`t recall the coversation being about credintials and discrediting each other. Mine were only mentioned because you asked if I had a Psych degree, I was clarifying how I arrived at my points. I will do my best to bow out of this now. The point certainly seems to have gotten lost pages ago.

Netmom,

Effective communication is about listening well more than anything else. If you read carefully my past posts, you`ll discover that I never asked if you had a Psychology degree. You felt compelled to offer your credentials all on your own.

Wow...The credentials I offered were a RESPONSE to this statement...

Hmmm... the only emotion should be passion, and none other? Perhaps you have a degree in Psychology and know more about the range of emotions and their nuances than I do, but I can`t agree with blanket statements like yours. I think emotions are complicated and diverse. And, I think emotions can be an important part of the inspirational and creative process in building a business. But again, I have always advocated for balance.
Thus the REPLY, no just an Entrepreneurship teacher and Econ Dev Director.

I listen very well thanks.

Oh wait...I get it, it was a jab at me personally...and you didn`t really want to know the basis of experience (re: emotion in business) for my assertion regarding this situation.... I get it now.

Agreeing to disagree, about what I am not so sure...as I said the point was lost pages ago.

Surely you recognize the difference between a question and a statement.
