I don`t like buttons that play a noise, sorry.

I tried to keep clicking on the link for the videos - nothing happens.

The contrast is not great - the categories and top buttons are small and serifed, so hard to read.

The organization is nice, maybe get rid of the videos thing at the top and show the products more?

There`s something funny with the pictures. Like the "Canvas Butt Pack" makes the bag look long and skinny in the front view, and in the page view ... but then you click on the picture to enlarge and it`s much wider.

Is that an affiliate site?

If it is, I`d drop it and find another vendor.

That site leaves a lot to be desired.

There just isn`t anything appealing about the site at all.

It just isn`t designed to sell at an optimum level

Find a vendor that has a clean, well designed, well organized,  high converting site.

Then get your own web page preselling the product and funnel customers to the vendors site via your affiliate link.

dking...can you be more specific....this is not an affiliate site.
I designed it myself...I know the pics need to be tweaked, but me personally like the layout and the color scheme.

As an osCommerce site, it is fine...and functional. A few things would make it a little more user friendly:

Product detail pages - The yellow text on rust background is hard to read. If you want to keep the rust colored background maybe try white text. OR change the background to whiat and use black text. Also, left justify the text rather than centering it.

Main page - Again the colors are a little hard on the eyes, but not a major problem. It is important to have links to your privacy policy, terms of service and shipping policy.

Use your home page to summarize what the site is about and communicate your marketing message. Obviously the home page colors need to be compatable with the store`s colors.

twc specifically, as the site is presently constituted, it`s extremely hard on the eyes, nor is it set-up to achieve optimum sales.

First of all, I think you`d be much better off going with a white background with black text.

It`s  much easier on the eyes.

Readability studies show white text on a blackground is far easier for most people to read.

That`s why book pages are printed black on white.

Second, as soon as visitors land on your home page, they should be hit with a compelling headline that alarms them...jars them...magnifies the crime  problem and makes them feel like they really do need to purchase your products for their own personal safety.

Third, throughout your site, you should use a graphic of a victim being mugged.

This will bring your message home psychologically.

Remember a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hey TWC how are you?
I just took a look at your web site, and to be honest with you... WAY TO GO!, you`ve come along way. As I recall you started off with pro-stores and over the last two years I`ve seen you progress now you`re using Oscommerce. Way to go! aside from what every one has to say, my respects go out to you, keep on pushing!
How many years have you been on SUN?

How is RDB doing? I think it`s time for a revamp... Take care

Hey Edgar,

Thanks for the good words on the site. I really do appreciate it.
Some nice words was a good thing to hear for a change.
I don`t know exactly know what is going on here at SUN, but lately, I have gotten the feeling that the atmosphere here has changed drastically from the way it use to be. This use to be a place where you could come and get some good advise from other that has been there and done that, but lately, all I have been seeing is most ppl taking every opportunity to basically  rip you a new, knock you down, and basically tell you nothing you do is right. It is like if you don`t do it their way, it is wrong.....What isn`t right for one person does not mean that it isn`t right for another.
This is one reason why I have not been on so much lately, If I wanted to get ripped every time I turned around, I would still be married...LOL
I just think that the main message SUN started with has gone by the wayside. Somehow, we need to find our way back to that message and start helping out each other instead of tearing down and discouraging others.  If you where a  possible new member and read most of these post, would you be inclined to join or go find another site that actually offers help and advise???

TWC,

I get what you`re saying about supporting each other here. But remember that some of this is valid criticism and can be very valuable to you. My experience here is that most folks will be honest. Some are a little better at being tactful than others, but it`s all mostly honest opinions. You don`t have to agree with all the opinions here, but even the ones you disagree with can be helpful. Chances are, if somebody here had an observation or criticism of your site, then there are probably dozens of others going to your site with a similar observation.

So please don`t be discouraged by some of our opinions. I agree with some of the criticisms here, but I think that generally your site looks fine and is something you should be proud of.

Good luck!

I would like to know how you find the above information unhelpful.

You asked people for their opinions, and when they gave you advice about how to make some positive changes - you complain about how we`re all "meanies" and how it wasn`t helpful? You do realize that no one has to look at your site, right? We take time out of our busy days to help you by going through your entire site. (Trust me, I would not be shopping on your site normally.)

If you don`t want critique, I would suggest not posting your site in critique. Maybe we can make a new forum for  "pats on the back".

And I know I sound a little harsh right now, but I did take a lot of time to go through your entire site (as I said, a site I would normally never shop on) and find some small, valuable changes you could make. I don`t care if you just ignore it and move on - but I don`t appreciate you outright insulting the people that took the time to go look.
