I don`t know if it was on purpose but the use of the ü before each list item looks like an error.

Anytime you use bullets like that, you should have them aligned on the vertical, like this:

  • one
  • two
  • three

This lead part:
"Founded by Michael J. Barnard, digitalworldelectronics.com is headquartered in Reisterstown, Maryland We are your....etc..."

Should be on the "About Us" page/tab, not the front of the home page. Replace it with a 10-second elevator pitch or slogan, or your company motto. It`s too much as a lead-in to the "Why you should shop with us."

Secondly, I really didn`t see why I should shop with you. The bullets were disorganized, but I want something more than reasons. Consider that the most primitive form of sales is to list features. That should just go on a spec sheet, and nobody really wants to wade through it until AFTER they`re interested.

But a more sophisticated step is to focus on two benefits to the individual person. So the "why should you shop here" is Implied. The response, then, would be what you write. "Digital World Electronics; offering free merchandise we`ll pay you to buy."

Okay...just kidding...but that`s the sort of thing. That was my main question: Okay...here`s yet another electronics store online: So what?

To truly move up into the sophistication of sales, you should also make the customer feel good on a moral basis, that they`re doing something for the public good by shopping at your store. This is quite difficult to accomplish, but it`s a way to tap into deep psychological drivers in most folks.

Your bullet points are all things any store should have. It`s like a kid demanding special praise for making the bed, doing the dishes, taking a shower. These are all normal things, and aren`t worth bullet point. Instead of saying you offer discounts---everyone does---why are yours different? How much of a discount? Is it bigger than anyone else?

The site is slow. I clicked the shopping cart, then "keep shopping," and finally closed the site then reopened it. It just never got me back to the home page. I then put in "multimedia receiver" in Advance Search, and found mostly stuff I wasn`t looking for.

I clicked the drop-down box, and there was so much in that, I couldn`t figure out why to use the keyword search. Limit that to only main categories: TV, radio, CD/DVD, and so forth. Then allow a "browse" right from the Advanced Search, or better, on the tabs at the top.

You already have items along the left and bottom about how the site works. I`d like to see the tabs at the top divided into types of electronics, like "departments." The I could go right to the "stereo AM/FM receivers" to browse what you`ve got. I could go to the Speakers department, car stereo, or whatever. I believe it`d almost be possible to scroll to the right for additional tabs, but you`d have to ask a Web designer on that. Otherwise, use sub-categories from drop-downs on those tabs.

Overall, I wasn`t impressed, and saw no reason to pursue the site. I generally use Froogle if I`m looking for electronics, but also I start on eBay just to see what kind of deal I can get. That`s your competition.

Long ago, selling retail electronics in JC Penney, I had an idea. I was so tired of people who had no idea what to choose from an infinite set of new products. Me and my partner were going to set up "Jeff & Craig`s." It would have only 3 of all items.

We would do the research, check them out, run the tests and quality assessment. Then we`d offer only three items in say Microwave ovens. "Cheap, Expensive, Really Good." LOL!! It`d remove all choice from the customer who only wanted a MWO and couldn`t care less about quality, specs, and only was looking at price.

I still think it`s a great idea. You need something to really make you different, and to stand out. This site doesn`t do it. Hopefully, SuN members will have more ideas for you to mull over. :-)
