I just signed an ad contract with an Australian Scrapbook Magazine.  Now I need an ad!

Before I go looking in my usual spots, I thought I`d toss it out here and see if anyone would like to give me a bid.  I need 1/8 of a page and I can send you the specs.

Thanks!

~Kim

Hi Kim,

I have been doing ads for my own business for quite sometime.  I am an experienced graphic designer as well as an entrepenuer.  Once in a while I will take an outside project for a hobby.  I charge $25 an hour which I think is well below the going rates.  I certainly can help you put a nice ad together.  Check out my website www.thebridesmaidparty.com.  Let me know if I can assist you.

Best,

bridalchic

Hi Kim,
I am new here at startupnation.com. I am a graphic designer in addition to being a print and advertising/marketing consultant. I have extensive experience in the type of advertising you have purchased (I helped get the national coupon magazine Value Pages started) Let me know if I can be of service to you.

Thanks,

kblack

Thanks for your offers!  I am going to have Bridalchic work on the ad because she works in a female-based industry also and might have an easier time understanding what I need (no offense guys, it`s just that it took me about 10 emails to explain the scrapbook industry to my press release writer - he`s an expert on it now whether he wants to be or not - LOL!)

Thank you for all your help!!!!

Hi Kim, just a quick note, I hope I catch you before you get to far down the path. I`ve worked with a lot of people who invest big money in an ad that is really pretty but doesn`t get good results.

Have your resource help you write good, compelling, benefit driven sales copy that has a strong call to action.

I can`t tell you how many people have spent a fortune on advertising -- only to learn that a very small % of readers will take action from it.

Another tip. Not sure if you have a website and would benefit from getting more people on your subscription list. If so, and you have a sample or scrap book tip of some kind, you can offer that in your ad to drive traffic. Or have them a call an 800# for a special discount or something.

Wishing you a successful campaign!

PS If you can use a good resource to help you create the write marketing copy, I`d recommend writingusa.com

Interesting, almost sexist, but interesting.
When trying to put together an ad, the best way to communicate is face-to-face or via the phone.
A lot gets lost in email.........including female based industries.
Having done a few scrapbook websites, I can tell you that despite not knowing much about it, talking with the client can get them exactly what they want.

Honestly, I don`t see anything sexist about it.  Men and women are often different in the way they view things.  Harley Davidson licensed to have scrapbook products made and they pretty much fell flat on their faces.  That`s not a world a lot of woman who scrap are interested in.  It had it`s "fans" but it didn`t have a long shelf life.

Heidi did a fantastic job on my ad!  Does that mean a man couldn`t have done just as good a job?  Nope!  It just means that I made decision for this ad based on this immediate need.
