I`m new to this site and I love it. I`ve learned so much in just one day.
My question is, how do you find out if there is a demand for certain services in your area?
I live in a small town, close to a bigger town, and 10 miles from an even bigger town. I`m afraid that there isn`t a demand for this service. How do you find out what a town has a demand for?
Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tee :-) Welcome to the community.

It might help if you give us an idea of what`s your service, but even without that information there are a couple of questions. Have you seen anyone else offering this service in your area? What about in the nation at large? You might try a Google search for the service to see how many results there are.

Another option is to just ask folks as you go out and about. Suppose your service happens to be cleaning graffiti off of walls, just as an example. As you talk with people when you`re shopping, like checkout people, store owners, managers, and so forth, you could ask them if they ever have graffiti painted on their walls, doors, or sidewalks.

The point is that your service ought to help people in some way. It might save them time, make their life easier, make their world more comfortable or beautiful, or save them money. That`s the "offer" part of your business.

Too many people get stuck on what they "do," rather than what they`re offering to potential customers. We had a previous community member who made this point over and over again, and I wonder how well it stuck? Your business isn`t about what you do for a service, nor is it about how you go about providing that service.

The only thing anyone in the market cares about is how your service will help them in some particular way. If there`s a need, then people would be happy to talk with you about it. Just bring it up in conversation. :-)
