During the previous podcasts, cleaning up credit with Kenya VanOsten-Promin and merchant services with Margarita Westberg, it seems that WAMU is the preferred business lender.  Has anyone contacted WAMU for business loan and merchant services to accept credit card payments?  If so, can you share your experience?

I am located in San Antonio, TX, and I am getting ready to visit a branch for loan and I will call the toll free for merchant services.  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

You have to have been in business for 2 years before they will
allow you use of their Merchant Services. I tried to get that from
them a couple of months ago but have only been in business
since April of last year. Other than that they were very helpful as
far as the Business Line of Credit was concerned.
Good Luck

Hello Cliff,
Washington Mutual happens  to be my bank when they
were Great Western and that was a few years ago.
I sent an e-mail to customer service stating I was ready
to start my own business that I was tired of living on
Social Security Disability. I received the most encouraging
e-mail from Customer Service. First they congraulated
me for making the move then they told me all about
StartupNationNewsletter that was exactly a year ago.
First I was under the impression that StartupNewsletter
was going to help me with funds since Washington Mutual suggested for me to look into StartupNationNewsletter. My best suggestion to you is hook up with PayPal they will help you with opening a merchant account to accept credit cards. Never sign any leases to any company that will promise you all the tools you need for an e-commerce business. Especially in Texas. If you hear from the company U.S.A. card services hang up! I got stuck with a 48 month lease paying 136.00 living on Social Security. The funny thing is I have not used my credit card terminal. Loans, after
a year finally got accepted for a S.B.A. loan. That my friend takes persistance.

Rose,
Thanks for your feedback.  I already have Paypal account since I used it for my eBay transactions back when I operated 808shop.com.  Does Paypal have the capability now for swipe credit cards?  Again, thanks and I`ll check paypal.

Just want to encourage anyone in PA, North VA, or SE Florida to try Commerce Bank. I no longer live in an area that they have a branch, but it really is good service--above and beyond. Did not get the opportunity to use them for Business, but am keeping a small balance with them just in case. I did know other small businesses in Harrisburg that used and recommended them to be as good as their personal services.
