We should share our 2008 progress right here. If we do that, it will keep us focussed.

Hi all - a quick update on my 2008 plans

Increase my web clients and customers and earnings ten-fold

Too early to say yet - hopefully my new products will make a difference!

Set-up 4 joint ventures for my web business

I have teamed up with an hypnotherapist and we are working on a new product to help individuals remove their fear of public speaking

I am also offering my next new product `Great Successful People` in a 75% income JV

Create 4 new product offerings for my web business

1 is on track to be launched at end of this month and all profits will be going to charity (hits my other goal - see below) and another will be launched in February (the public speaking one mentioned above). I might have to review the number of products this year!

Actually go on holiday - somewhere nice and hot (haven`t had a holiday in 2 years!)

Nothing yet booked - too way off

Take my wife out on a date 2 times every month

My wife and I went out last night to see a show and for dinner!

Get into the habit of exercising 3 times a week for at least 20 mins

I must do this - I want to loose 20 lb! So I have kept this up and 2lb has gone since New Year.

Give something back via charity

As mentioned above all the profits from my new product, which is an audio of revealing interviews with top famous successful individuals (in the world of self development, leadership and management) will be given to a Breast cancer charity

Read 1 new book every month - either a self development or autobiography

Not yet, this month! I have several on the pile to read including Allan Leighton `On Leadership`, Christine Comaford-Lynch `Rules for Renegades` and Ben Zandler `The Art of Possibility`. Any one read any of these - which one shall I start first?

How you guys doing?

Andrew

Well, I wanted to do more podcasting ... and here`s my first one released today!
Marketing your Website (1 of 5): Focus on Content and Code

I sound a little funny to me because I was trying hard to not "um" .. but I think it came out OK anyway.

I also gave my blog traffic a nice boost today by hosting the Carnival of the Capitalists, so check that out if you`d like to read some really great posts on business topics.

I`ve also taken some time to clarify my goals for myself, and modify a few of my initial ones. It`s always important, IMO, to be flexible with your goals so you can adapt to changes and spin on a dime when you`re an entrepreneur!

So we`re 7 days in and off to a good start so far ...

You sound like you`re doing great, Andrew!

At age 47 I finally realized something - When I focus on what I want to "feel" and not on some measurable, tangible results, I do so much better.

In the past I always worked out a very detailed plan like:
X number of clients
X number of billable hours
and on and on and on...

Last year I took off all of the "numbers"

I have a plan and I will follow it, adding to and subracting from as I go. It may take me a month to do what I have so far and it may take me all year but that`s ok. It is focused on giving "Raving Fans" service (great book by Ken Blanchard, by the way) to clients who truly need what we have to offer.

I have found that when I do that - I do better than any of the numbers I could ever have calculated! This isn`t a formula for everyone but do think about it. Don`t forget to focus on what it is that you love about your business and make sure you aren`t getting so wrapped up in meeting goals and deadlines that you forget the joy!

Nikole,

I listened to the podcast - you sounded terrific (oh and some great advice! ).

I think I may have posted some articles to Carnival of the Capitalists in the past. It is one of the best carnivals around!

Sandra,

I agree. Detailed plans are just too...detailed!

I have mixed my plans up a bit this year - some with numbers (increase my customers by 10-fold) and some not (give something back - charity).

I intend to review every month and see how I am doing.

Thanks for the kind words, Andrew.

I`m not sure how much longer the CotC will be around ... the world is a changing place, and something new might be coming out of the ranks in its place.
