Either is fine:-)

It seems like you have a business that aims to rectify everything that is perceived as endemc within the tradesman industry. The most obvious seems to be to recruit people who can do the work that you are now (self admittedly) getting a little old for. If you can get a team of like-minded & well trained people and take a small slice of their fee`s whilst promoting them as your team that may work.

The reason I asked for your passion is that this will determine what you can feasibly succeed at. For example if you love writing - maybe writing a "How-To" book could be your way to fame and fortune. You might have hobbies away from work that you could turn in to a business.

The website will be a great resource for you to see what different people have going on and may provide an inspiration for your future direction

Best of Luck

Lee

Obviously you have thought about hiring younger people to do the physical work. If that`s not in the cards for you why not be a handyman coach.

I watch these shows on TV where amateurs  flip a house with no idea what they are doing. What if you visited people`s (clients) houses and
  • physically get them started on a project,
  • go to the hardware store with them
  • tell them about the up coming pitfalls
  • help lay out a budget
  • help lay out time line
  • tell them about that critical tool
Many homeowners want to do it themselves, they don`t want to hire a contractor, but need a buddy to call.  This is an option you could slowly move into without quitting the current job cold turkey ...
Good luck in the future

Hi Richard,

I checked out your website. I suggest you investigate the home inspection profession. I have been a home inspector for 21 years and during that time I have seen the business grow, become a commonly recommended service by the Realtor community and increased fees. It requires not only someone techincally astute but someone who can run a business and market themselves as well. Think of the three legged stool. You need all three to be successful. In addition to owning my own business, I recently began managing 20 plus training schools teaching others in this career. Here are a couple of links that may be of interest to you.

Best of luck.

Based on all I have read on your sight, and some of the replies you have recieved, the area that stands out to me the most is ministry! Make your vocation in the service of God! You apparently live your life in full devotion to the faith you practice. Many talk the talk, very few walk the walk. Everything you have posted shows that you live your life in a sanctified manner. It seems that God would need someone to go into the mission field and offer the benefit of your knowledge and experience. There are many of God`s children that live in poor conditions around the world.

Just a thought!
