I run an employment job posting website Mployd.com and we were discussing how it would be interesting to have an environmentally friendly website?  Is that possible?  If so please let me know?

One thing running a website does is use a lot of electricity - from servers to bandwidth to even customers using their own machines.  As a business, you can purchase wind power credits from your power company.  Each locality works things differently so you would have to think up a structure for how it relates to your site.  But you can then boast on your site that you support green power to run your business.  Consumers will like that.

I`m just thinking out loud here.  Maybe it`s something we`ll look into with our web business after we launch.

Sure...a couple of places to look are :

http://www.aiso.net and http://www.thinkhost.com

These folks offer hosting where the servers are all run from wind and solar, not energy credits.

Wow I'm glad to discover this thread, Now I have my option to have my site hosted in an eco-friendly hosting company.

Are there any testimonials from other SuN members regarding these two?
