Recently we received and order from a user using our Google Checkout.  The fact that the order was placed thought Google Checkout saved us some very serious grief!  Let me explain.  We received notification of a order through Google Checkout and before we could even get it processed we received this notice:

Cancelled by Google

Order history

Jul 2     4:39 PM

Order cancelled

For your protection, Google cancelled this order. The transaction was considered fraudulent.

Jul 2     4:35 PM

Order received

You received a new order. Google has sent the customer an order confirmation email.

At first we could not figure out what was going on.  So we sent an email to the person that had placed the order.  He called us back and said he had never placed the order, even though we had all his correct billing information.  After further research we discovered the order was placed from a third party that was not the person being represented and that Google had saved this person from receiving a fraudulent charge using stolen identity.  This is very cool and I will have to admit I don’t know how they did it so well, but they did.  If this had been a call in order we would have never caught this because all the information was correct right down to the credit card code and billing address.

After seeing how well this worked it has made me very happy that we are using Google Checkout.  The person that almost got charged was also very happy and he said he was going to tell all his friends what a great company we were.  You can’t do any better than that!

I just thought I would share this with everyone at SuN…

That`s very cool!  "I" bought Hoodia and signed up for Blockbuster and BMG music a while back when my debit card got compromised at our local soccer signup site.  It was a headache to contact all these companies and cancel my subscriptions.  That`s great that Google caught that before it went through!

Wow, that is a huge selling point ... I`ve been looking into them to switch some of my PayPal clients to, due to the programming nightmare that is checking out with PayPal. I was just talking about this today, in fact.

That is awesome! PayPal would never had caught this. You would have had a huge charge back, or PayPal would have blocked your account because you were linked to the transaction. The opposite of Google Checkout. I cannot wait for the new upgrades they are working on.
