Shopify looks good. Seem a little easier to use then zen cart.

Could someone clarify something. Zen Cart and Shopify are shopping cart applications, correct? Xsitepro is a website builder.  I need to create a website with blogs, forums and pics and incorporate that with the products I will be selling. I am a bit confused as to if I can build such a website through these shopping carts apps or do I need to build the site seperatelty and add the shopping cart when uploading to the host. Note: the web design will be all custom templates that I have created, I will not be using standarized templates.

As I browse thought these shopping cart website it looks like you can create a website from them, but I am thinking that thier might be limitations on what you can do.

Hi Greg,
It`s kinda blatant, but I can recommend my studio. My link is in the signature.

As far as free software, I would recommend Magentocommerce.com

These guys have made detailed website Design and Construction as easy as point and click, Drop and Drag! For less than $200 bucks. My tech partner and I build websites the old fashioned way (Code) we we`re wondering who would eventually make it so that everyone could do it themselves. These folks have done it: http://www.xsitepro.com/index_r.html?p=DanAuito&w=home

Hey Dan, link that you gave has a referral code, no wonder you`re raving about this web site which by the way looks like piece of sh!t. If this is as much design you can get using this site, then it`s not worth the $200 you spend.

re: xsitepro - agreed, stop hawking affiliate links, and if the site itself is the best they can do, move on folks, nothing here to see.

magento - amazing ecommerce package, but not for this thread owner - he`s not ready or skilled enough. I`m not throwing rocks, simply reading posts and questions, and can say it would be overkill for him to try it. Same with Zen.

shopify - hosted service, not software. You don`t have to install anything, just sign up, pick a template, and off you go.  Later, you want a customized theme (look)? That could be done by someone with CSS (cascading Style Sheet) knowledge and graphic/web design ability.

change of thread topic - see, you started out asking about an ecommerce site, which shopify will do. then you `oh by the way` the topic and suddenly need forums, blogs, etc.

it`s usually a good idea to list ALL your requirements up front, so that the good people answering your questions (for free) can at least know what to answer.

I still stand by the shopify answer, with an addendum - I have seen many a shopify site integrated into a hosted website, by using the same theme, adding all the non-ecommerce features to the hosted site, and the `shop` (or whatever) link takes one to the shopify solution. (and on shopify, all the non-shop links lead back to the hosted website). Same theme/look means a virtually seamless transition.
