A wonderful host I have worked with is http://www.westhost.com

Hands down, the MOST HELPFUL host I have ever used.

--

As far as platforms, I would suggest looking into either Wordpress or Joomla. Both have excellent options as far as shopping, both are easily extensible. Both have a lot of template options. Both can be easily hosted on WestHost servers, and they will even help you install.

Joomla is more extensible, powerful and flexible than Wordpress, but has a higher learning curve, and is not as SEO-friendly out-of-the-box. It would depend on how far you plan to take this. It would be harder to go from Wordpress store to a more powerful system later.

That said, I would not go with a basic template out-of-the-box, myself. A few basic changes to a cookie-cutter template can make all the difference to your site look and feel, and shouldn`t cost too much money.

Good luck!

Hello rkensparc,

I`ve seen good performance hosting e-commerce sites with both 1&1 and GoDaddy. As ChristineG mentioned,  host provide the space for your website. Magento Commerce is a great (free :) e-commerce platform that handles most of the features you mentioned.

As for the forum, you could always use an additional platform, like Vanilla or bbPress.

Some web host do offer e-commerce solutions, but they are usually light on features.

Did you find a solution?
