Chuck is always brilliant with his SEO advice. I wonder if you
can explain this… :)

I am getting results from search engines (and the people
looking for me) when it comes to my contact page, or home
page, or other support pages. But I am having difficulties
getting hits from search engines (and the people looking for the
product) on a product page. Of course it`s shopping cart
software run by my ecommerce/hosting company. How can I
address this issue? Should I be speaking to my hosting
company or is this something I should be doing?

...and anyone else who wants to chime in. I just want to see if I
can resolve this trouble of mine.

From personal experience your host company with probably say it is out of their hands.  But I would agree Chuck has been a great help and if I could give him a rating I would give him a 5.

I recommend that you Google for the following;
Using Meta Tags
Meta Tags are simply keywords that people use when they search. When someone is searching for the product that you have and the meta tags of your product page are included in the meta tags then your product has a higher chance of being ranked higher and be found in the search by the user. So, I suggest you include meta tags or improve the tags that you are already using in your pages, if any.

Also, Google for the following;

Google for webmasters

You will get Google`s help page for webmasters that will include useful info on improving the search results of your website.

I always make sure my keyphrase is in the title and the actual domain name if possible.

While the value of meta tags is low, the value of a distinct Title for every page is not - I think I pointed this out in another thread with you Vincent, but head to Google and use this search:

site:elusivetreasures.com

You`ve got 85 pages indexed in Google, and they all show up with the same title!  Only 45 of your 85 show up before Google spits out the "we have omitted some entries very similar to the 45 already displayed" message.  Look at this page on your site:

http://www.elusivetreasures.com/store.cfm?do=detail&d=32 55&c=5468&p=32167

That`s a distinct product page on your site, but the title of the page is the same as every other page - you`re missing the first means you have to distinguish the page in the eyes of search engines and Google.  At the very least have a title like "Boron Stone - Elusive Treasures" - your products are distinctive, so I don`t know that there will be a huge search volume for any individual item, but it`s a crime that you`re not on the first page for a search for any of your products.

Beyond addressing the title tag issue, you may want to put some time into generating meta keywords and meta descriptions; as I said, their value in determining your ranking within search results is slim to none, but in some cases they will be drawn into the way your search results are delivered on Google/Yahoo/MSN - they`re sort of like dotting your i`s and crossing your t`s.

Yes, I have started the task of better title naming... the page you
listed I should look at as an example is created by several other
pages... It`s the way the database shopping cart creates the
item page for the site. I am now having conversations to learn
the best solution for page titles and meta tags being tied more
directly to each item. Thanks. I think I am starting to understand
it.

That`s great Vincent, I think you`ll see a difference once your product pages are clearly identified and distinct from one another in this way.  Once you`ve knocked that one out of the park, I`m sure we can come up with some more creative ways to help searchers find your site.
