Hi all,
I am trying to find and to interview an attorney for the business. I have some questions about it.
1. Is big Law company better then the boutique one?
2. Is there a web-site with ratings for the lawyers?
3. How can I check if there are any complains about a certain lawyer?
Unfortunatly I don`t have any friends who can recommend me a lawyer so I have to hunt for one by myself. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks.
Olga.

hi olga - i work in a law firm during the day; maybe i can shed some light....

1. Is big Law company better then the boutique one? - not necessarily.  there are general firms which can handle general matters like incorporating (which you can do online yourself to save money) and other business issues (partnership/operating agreements, etc) and there are speciality firms (patents/trademarks/mergers, acquisitions) (which do charge more an hour).

you may want to canvas some local firms in your area; most smaller, general firms will offer a consultation at no charge.

2. Is there a web-site with ratings for the lawyers? depending on where you live - in the states, you may want to check out http://www.martindale.com

3. How can I check if there are any complains about a certain lawyer? again, you can check out martindale hubbell if you are in the u.s., go to your state`s department of professional business and regulation website online...

hope this helps...legsx3

Most states have an attorney referral listing you can look up.  You can also go to the state bar association for the information you seek.
