Can anyone tell how to generate leads? I am getting good traffic on my website but still there are no leads. What could be the possible reason?

Hi, I'm responding to your question with an article I posted recently on the subject. Note: I did not write the article. I'm the editor of the website where it's located. I hope it's helpful. Please feel free to respond with questions, comments, or constructive criticism.

The most powerful ways to generate business leads

A business cannot survive without business is a truism, and, like all of them, it has an essential and valid point. All the investment, infrastructure, personnel and other paraphernalia become meaningless, if there are no leads generated that ultimately result in the sale of products and services. Sales mean profitability, and the first step in this objective is to find prospects. If there are no business leads, there are no prospects, which means no business and no profits.

Basics of Lead Generation

Getting to understand what your prospects want and need, or their primary concern, is the core of any business activity. Once they are assured that you have this awareness and are eager to offer a solution, they will listen to you. The key is to offer your product or service as the panacea to sort out their problem. Technical features, credentials and other aspects may be important, but, in the ultimate analysis, it is the results that will convince your prospect to opt for it. Once this is accomplished, you know that you have your prospect’s attention and it is then that you go in for the final call to action. Your business lead may well take months to come to a decision, but follow-up and regular contact is necessary. It is then that a relationship is built that may well turn out to be the mantra that gets you the sale.

These three components: the Problem, the Solution and the Call to Action are the essentials in your marketing and promotional campaigns that result in enhanced responses and more business leads.

Email Marketing

With the rapid advances in Internet technology, the use of email for online marketing has become the norm. A well-written and interesting newsletter either fortnightly or monthly can be a useful tool for the generation of business leads. Care should be taken, however, that the newsletter is sent only to those who have subscribed to it, as otherwise it could very easily be classified as spam and deleted automatically.

Again, here too the objective should be to present the product or service as a solution to problems, so that it proves to be something that the reader has been looking for.

Harvesting email addresses

A website is the vehicle to generate leads for an online business. A well-designed site with coherent and accurate content will attract visitors, but retention is another matter altogether. The way to ensure that the casual visitor is ‘hooked’ is to offer a free online report or white paper on a related subject. This would persuade the visitor to leave his/her email address on the designated column and that would give you the opportunity to continue your promotional campaign. It is important to remember that follow-up is crucial, otherwise this initial interest does not take long to dissipate.

Trade Shows

Trade shows, national and international, are good forums to promote your specific product or service, and usually prove successful in terms of generating business leads. Selection of the right trade show is necessary, and evaluating the credentials of the organizer becomes a key factor. Proper promotion at the trade show is critical to enhance footfall, and, unless there are enough visitors, you would not be able to generate enough business leads. The cost of participation and your own marketing would be money squandered, if there are just a few indifferent visitors.

Though learning how to generate leads and implementing such methods can be an expensive and time consuming procedure, it is definitely something that no enterprise or business can grow without.
