Greetings, I am wondering if there is a certain age that someone has to be to make a commercial site that would make profit over a course of time through primarily advertising. Here are a few of my questions that I need to be answered by any of you members.

  • Can I make money off of this website if I am a minor?
  • Would I need a business license to make money off of my website?

    1. How old would I need to be to get a business license in the state of Utah?
  • Where can I find a website that is good for web hosting?

    1. This website will be for (mostly) novice artist(s) to post their creations online, for people to view, comment, rate and possibly a track feature so the user can see whenever they come out with a new one. I assume this will probably be in a sort of a blog website, I am not sure on the specifications yet.

If you can help me with any of this, please send me an email (TheCelloist@yahoo.com), or comment on this post.
Thank you.

Greetings, I am thinking about starting a website where people can go on and post their own art work. I don't know much about starting a small business, but I figured this would be a good place to start.

I am not sure whether what you are trying to study about is making an LLC or just a simple website where hobbyists go to. If you are referring to the former, well at least you are of age (at least 16 yo) to pay for income taxations, etc.. If it is the latter, you can always make your own website and earn from it through affiliates or maybe sell some of your artwork, etc.

I hope that answers your question.

I think that the best way for you to begin your research would be to visit this website, and contact the secretary of state of your website with regards to legal limitations imposed in new business owners and incorporation:

This is a good place to start: http://corporations.utah.gov
