Hello,

I'm Janice and I'm new in this forum.

I hope I post this on the right place.

Is there anyone out there who can give an idea or any suggestions about fund raising activities. What do you think is the effective fund raising these days and what do I need to do to make a fund raising activity successful?

Thank you guys,

robertj

Janice,

Are you wanting to acquire capital for a business or do fund raising for a charitable organization?

It depends on the level of fundraising you are trying to do. Explain what you are trying to do.

Fund raising is one that I am struggling with also, and so would love to also hear what other people are doing.

bookluver,

It's great to hear about ways others have acquired capital for their business - but each situation is somewhat unique so 'one size" does not fill all.

There are (at least) 50 ways to bring capital into a business. Some are appropriate for early startups, some for growth stage companies, but none work for every situation.

If you'd like to discuss the specifics of your situation (in confidence) feel free to contact me directly or send me a PM

As has been stated, there are many options. While you don't say where you are with your business or funding needs, one little known option (due to its being new) is peer to peer funding (not loans). Micro Angels are helping to fund small businesses. See signature for info.

Perhaps this will help people too...

If you have a small company that you are comfortable growing slowly and using to pay your bills then that is considered a 'life style' business. The sources of funds for those tends to be credit cards, friends and family, loans and micro finance.

If you have a small company which you would like to grow into a large business - where there is a real potential for significant growth but where you have only a few customers, an young product or service then angel funding from individuals or an angel group might be worth considering.

If you have a business with a few customers, a team of people who can drive it forward, in a space with real potential and have already proven the business model then early stage venture capital may be the answer.

The types of finance often align with the stage of the business - stage being determined by customer acceptance, consistent revenues, team members, growth and other factors.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have follow up questions.
