Hi,  I am on the road to starting my business.   I have had this question run through my mind as i have been dealing with various people along the way (accountants, graphics designer, leasing managers etc).    do I form my business first even though I don`t have a physical location yet? I understand that i could be writing some of this stuff off had i been recognized as an existing business during the time of making purchases.  however the reason I question which to do first is that on all the forms used to "form a business" they always ask for  the location of the business and it is a required field to fill out.   Do i put my home address here and request to change it upon successful lease?  Is this the assumed method? or do we wait until we have obtained the lease and can put down the actual location of business? (I am living and will be doing business in Canada if this makes a difference in your answer)

Best regards,

Many secretary of states will provide a place on a form [like to start an LLC] that designates where the statutory agent receives mail on behalf of the LLC.  It can be a post office or any other address - home, etc.

If you are incuring expenses now in the name of your busines, I would set the business up.  And, like James said, you could use a P.O box.
