Hi,

We've recently gotten our product into several small retailers--mostly independent--and I'm wondering how to proceed with following up.

We want to stay in contact to help them remember us, to reorder if they get low, and also to establish a good working relationship. But, I know they are busy business owners and I don't want to bug them either.

I would love some advice on what to do--from both wholesalers and retailers. How much contact is good? Ever couple of months, more often, wait until they contact us to reorder?

Thanks!

Having been on the retail side, here's my recommendations:

1) You should have a newsletter, ad, etc. going out by email every 2 weeks, at a minimum.

2) You should call in person or by phone about every 4 weeks, more often if they are selling through your product.

Best regards,

SproutShell & Molly,

I had this same question!  I was happy to see the frequency that you noted, Molly, because I've always worried about bugging people too much.

Thank you for posting.

I used to run several distribution centers.  I routinely made contact with customer once a month.  I usually didn't dive into a sales pitch though.  I started by asking how their families were or other type discussions.

But, I always ended by asking if there was anything they needed from my store that day.
