Well, one thing for sure...when you`re flat on your back, there`s not a whole lot you can do OTHER than research, work through a business plan, and figure out the logical progression of what you`ll do to get the business up and running as YOU get up and running. :-)

I know it`s incredibly hard to look at enforced down time as a productive time. The worries, anxieties, and concerns about money, bills, and daily life are a huge distraction. But even if you can get a few notes together each day, just SOMEthing that`s in aid of the business, that`s being productive.

My sister once told me that there`d be a great market for sympathy cards involving really serious diseases and tragedies. When our father was laid up with terminal cancer, she was close enough to go there every couple of weeks to stay, visit, and keep up with him. She searched high and low for some sort of handy greeting card that she could send in between. They`re not out there. Only "sorry you`re feeling under the weather" kinds of things.

:-) That doesn`t quite have the ring to it when someone`s dying of cancer or cardiovascular disease. You could keep an eye out on secondary lines of business, stemming from the slogans and bumper stickers, and perhaps moving into writing blurbs for cards?

Mike,

You might be down for now, but that doesn`t put you out!  You can still work on your ideas and verbally record them while lying down.  If your doctor permits it, you might want to consider a doughnut pillow for sitting and sitting in a pool or hot tub.  The submersion in water will relieve some of the stress on your body.

I wish you the best, and when you can, please keep in touch with us.  Meanwhile, here`s one of my slogans you are welcome to use . . .

      KIDS left in cars DIE

Unfortunately, the police get over 50 calls a month about children left in cars while idiots, I mean parents/caretakers, run in the store.  Here, in the summer in the desert, a car can get to 165+ degrees in about 10 minutes, which will kill a child within minutes.  People should have to take common sense exams before having children . . . but, I digress.

Heal quickly.

Look what that company did with the "baby on board" sticker! That was innovative and became a fad. The revenues generated could easily fund a different company.

What can someone do with slogans? Obviously, lots of things. The trick is to figure out something really new and different. And that takes time to dream, imagine, and think. Most people don`t have that time. You now do. :-)

I`ll always remember a movie about a guy who wanted "The Big Idea!" He figured if he could just come up with something new, it would start a company that would make money. He tried everything, crazy or not.

One night he dreamed he was chasing his girlfriend through a factory. A vat of ball-bearings fell over and spilled the balls everywhere. They were slipping and sliding, and he woke up feeling a sense of great fun. So he contemplated how to make slipping and sliding an intent, and came up with the idea for rollerskates.

I have a great respect for the capability of our mind to literally dream up fabulous ideas. All it takes is to hold the thought before going to sleep, "I want a cool idea!" Then see what happens. :-)
