Are you terminating (i.e. sacking due to poor performance or
something like that) or making redundant?
You have to be careful otherwise you might face a tribunal.
If you are `sacking`, you need to have evidence on why. Have you verbally told them they need to improve their performance? Have you given them a chance to improve their work, behaviour, etc? You have to verbally and in writing give them an ultimatum - either you improve or you have to leave. Then is there is no improvement, again verbally and in writing tell them they have to leave.
If you are making them redundant, you have to give them notice that you are making them redundant and then a week later make them redundant providing a notice period of whatever is in their contract, normally 4 - 16 weeks.
