I've got a great idea for a business, but great business ideas are a dime a dozen and useless without great execution. So here's my problem: I don't have the technical expertise to pull off my idea, and I need to find someone who does.  My question is how do I convince someone who is a lot smarter than I am (at least technically) to go into business with me?

In my opinion, first have an open and honest discussion with an indiviual who has the desire, passion, and drive to start a business endeavor.

Business plans interest individuals through understanding, they don't convince.

You would then determine if the individual has the technical or business skills you seek.

Finally, if your idea is viable and you can get them to understand your concept / business model, you don't need to convince them regarding the business and its' potentials. You need to convince them to go into business with you.

Same concept with an investor. Any one business venture can be a great investment. But investors don't invest in business plans and concepts, they invest in the people behind it.

As so often is the case when we are thinking of entering into business with complete strangers, it becomes imperative that we execute an accurate public records search. Gathering as much information as possible can make the difference between a successful partnership and one which is prune to fail. Potential data source must not only be reliable, but accurate and up to date as well. It cannot hurt to choose one that is extremely cost effective and easy to understand.

You could easily find business partners or at least employees online for just about any niche. I've worked online as a freelance writer for several years now and work independantly with one company now. I'd say look through the freelance markets and find someone that has the same ideas and business wants as you. When you are in business with someone that has the same interests it works out much better.
