Reading the dialog here was interesting. I don`t lack for ideas and skills. But a real mentor is something I`ve really desired, and found that without such leadership in my life, I would settle for less than what is possible.

A "mentor" is someone who takes a personal interest in my success, and is willing to faithfully invest at least a small amount of time to meet regularly. Someone whose counsel I can trust, and in whom I can confide. Someone who will inspire me to think bigger and be greater. Someone who will be honest with me. And I am the richer for it. I don`t think we are islands, I`m very thankful for the mentors I`ve had in my life.

I have found a couple of great resources for this - one is my business networking group. A professional networking group - if the group has strong leadership, a vision that is reasonable and compelling, and consistent commitment / accountability from its members to the vision - this kind of group is not easy to find. But once I found the right group, I`ve developed relationships with more than one leader with the kind of character (integrity, passion, vision, and prudence) that I want to see in myself and the people I surround myself with.

John Maxwell`s books, including the 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork, are excellent resources. Check out www.INJOY.com

Ok, lets put it this way.

Can`t someone that is generally a good business person be a mentor to me, someone that isn`t per say experienced in textile burn mark inspection, but someone that knows how to do business, someone that has had 5 and still has 30 left in them?  This is probably where I need or think I might find help useful.

I think I can do most other things myself, but how can I ever be certain?

If you Desire that, it will happen for you.

I`m a healthcare consultant/recruiter, but I`m sharing and writing articles but I`m not an experienced online, internet marketer.  I have a new website with Free articles and I`m offering a free ebook.  I`d like to find Mentors that are genuinely interested in helping others.  Many people offer information for a price (which I understand) but I also know that helping people from your heart will attract even more people to help finish a project or reach a goal

I don't know if the following people can be considered a mentor but in my book I think they are.

The first one was my college professor, he would definitely give me an extra hour just to give me more lectures on a thesis that I'm working. The set up would be he would let me figure things out and explain my flaws when something went wrong. I'm a multimedia graduate by the way.

The second mentor that I had was my boss in my previous job. She literally took me under her wings and taught me the ins and out of marketing. She was very patient and understanding especially she knows that my college degree is waaay off from my current position that time (Marketing Officer).

I think mentors are people who are passionate to teach you and impart you with their knowledge without obliging you to be a clone of them. Mentors I think are the people who would teach you their trade secrets just because they think you're the "chosen one" (Think Neo and Morpheus, Yoda and Luke).

Right now I'm confident with what I can do and I don't know if this would be possible without my mentors. I'm planning to pay it forward maybe 5-10 years from now I have my own protege to teach.
