Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and would love to have some suggestions and critiques on the 1st draft of my new site. I used this free web builder that unfortunately is very limited, you can only build three pages, but it's a start anyway.

My site is http://www.crozon.ca

Thanks in advance,

Corey

Good start, straight to the point.  Suggestion: remove where you are writting from. After your name end the sentance.  Why: because in some perceptions this may lead the reader to think "he can only write in Candian"(as if there was such a thing).  The second concern some would have is they are not close enough (in distances) to you for trust (sure, it does not matter in this case, but again it is the perseption).

I for one wrote you information down and may need to contact you.

Very Best!

no ads! pay the $10 a month for a paid hosting account...

use text for your titles/links, web spiders can't read images(though, i but that'll change soon).

home page it good, direct, tells people what you do simply and is easy to read. I really think you could benefit from a ~$200-$300 design makeover

on the design, i don't get the tally marks... am i missing something? and the 2.3 at the bottom either...

fix the urls, 2752.html should really be contact.html...

You're saying that you work in SEO, I'm VERY new to SEO, but i'm seeing a lot of basic seo mistakes throughout the site, as a potential customer that makes me wonder if you can do what you say you do.

(really, i am a potential customer ;) )

Hi jamison,

Thanks so much for the feedback. I agree with all of your points entirely.

Unfortunately the 'free' web design software that came with the domain registration has many limitations, much of it being related to the very same points you discussed - images instead of text for titles, urls like 2752.html instead of contact.html, etc. Same thing goes for the design, those hash marks and 2.30 are part of the template, no idea what they are for, but it was the best looking one available - sad I know.

My specialty is the content and SEO, not design.

I know you mentioned many basic SEO mistakes, but I would chalk that up to the limitations of using free hosting and design services. My goal was to get the http://www.crozon.ca/ indexed in Google, and with very little effort I have already gotten many of my keywords on the 1st and 2nd search results page - well at least at Google.ca ;-).

When I feel it is worth the added expense, I will invest in hosting, however a new design is already on its way.

Thanks again, I really do appreciate your feedback.

Visited your site but I will be honest with you....the first thing that got my attention was the flashing add banner.   I honestly can not take a business serious that is using a "free website"  it makes me a bit skeptical.    I would suggest that if you want to be taken seriously as a "Freelance Writer" invest in you business and especially your "image"   First impressions count and you only get one chance....don't spoil it by using a cheap free website.   No offense, please.

If you well please do me the honors of doing the same for me.   Can you please visit my site www.americasprice.com and give me your opinion on it.   I'd very much appreciate it.  Thanks

Hi Americsprice,

Thanks for your input. Just like jamison mentioned, you are correct about the ads, they can be very distracting… so I decided to pay for hosting after all and upgraded my account today.

A new design is on its way.

Thanks again for your help.
