Employers may want to think again if they want to keep their employees
from talking about their jobs on social networking sites. The government
has settled a lawsuit filed after an ambulance company fired an
employee after she criticized hher boss on Facebook.
The National Labor Relations Board argued that the woman's comments were protected under fedral law. The company sais they fired her because of complaints about her work.
Under the terms of the settlement, American Medical Response of Connecticut, Inc. agreed to change policies that prohibited employees from making negative comments about the company or their supervisors in blogs or other places on the internet. They also revised a policy that prohibited making any comments about the company.
The exact terms of the settlement between the employee and the company were not disclosed, but the employee will not be returning to work.
