Let's face it, failure is an entrepreneur's inevitable companion. Fear of failure often stops entrepreneurs before they even have a chance to bring all of their ideas to life. In extreme cases, a fear of failing will cause an entrepreneur to avoid anything that isn't safe or a gauranteed success. Many entrepreneurs never set out on their own for this very reason. Only by overcoming fear of failure will you be able to succeed. Use these tips to focus on success and leave your fear of failure behind:
(1) Clear Your Mind- Learn some simple relaxation techniques that you can do just about anywhere to calm yourself and keep a clear mind. Apply these relaxation techniques as needed. Sleep is also extremely important! In order to produce anything worthwhile you need to be calm, clear and balanced.
(2) Banish Doubt- Acknowledge that you have a certain fear. Do not deny it. Determine it's nature and type. Figure out if it is real or imagined. Then, define it: Is it fear of rejection, of success, of failure, of not being good enough or of something else. Do any or a combination of the following techniques:
*Visualization or controlling your mind/imagination. Concentrate on the target results and try to "experience the feeling of already having/doing them".
*Creating a vision board and placing it somewhere where you can see it always. Stick/draw on it some pictures or symbols of the things that you desire to happen if you don't have fear anymore.
*Write a journal. Read self-help articles/books, watch inspiring shows/movies, attend seminars, visit web sites which are addressing your needs, or talk about your fear with someone/people you trust and who could help you.
*Ask for professional help from a life coach, business coach etc.
(3) Take Action- Make a plan or checklist to accomplish your daily or weekly tasks. Check off each task after you complete it. Prioritize your tasks and tackle the hardest ones first. Your confidence will increase after you accomplish a few of the bigger tasks. Be honest with yourself on how much you can do. Do not attempt more than you can handle. Keep trying, do your best and don't give up. It takes time to develop a new habit.
