I`m definitely a bit slow on the uptake. I could blame the low caffeine levels in my system this morn. But I have to say that I was completely taken in.

But now I`m smiling large.

Well written and very creative.  With virtual worlds becoming more popular it may just be around the corner.

Hey Craig,
It has been a long time since I posted, even though I have been reading alot of what has been going on for a while now. I have to say though...this is one of the most creative interpretations I have read in a long time. It really makes you think about how you approach your site. Fantastic! Thanks!

Hey there, Leah...long time, as you say :-) You`re right, there`s a lot to be said for imagining an online store working the same as if it were in a physical mall.

Ya gotta wonder how many customers people lose by demanding that they first sign up on a member list, or with a splash page that shows nothing. The entire real estate business chooses to pretty much blind anyone using FireFox, and we know how much real estate uses computer technology these days.

Back when I was growing up, the main point of having a business was to bring in more money (revenue) by getting more and more customers, keeping those and inviting them to come back and shop some more. Nowadays, it seems as if customers and their interests are the least relevant of all aspects of a business, in so many instances.

Hello!

I often wonder why website owners believe that if they wouldn`t fill out the forms on other websites...what makes them believe their visitors would want to?

This has always been a sore subject for me. Seems like common sense to me...if you can`t get people through the front door, as you say, how exactly do you get them to come back!?

I must say...your imagery really lays it out so well. Too bad it isn`t manditory reading for all potential (and current) website owners! ;-)

Good point Craig (and great story btw).  In the eCommerce world it seems everyone is just about building the list vs. letting the visitor browse the products.  I wish it were the opposite and I`m sure a few "Ekimmerse" innovators will create strategies that work for this type of buyer.  I hate those online marketing squeeze pages as much as I dislike a tele-marketer that answers after a 60 second delay but for some reason it must be working because I see more and more of those pages (I`ve since opted out of the telephone game).

P.S.  Zip Realty (online real estate services company) just took the nation`s #6 Real Estate Sales slot.  Maybe these Real Estate folks will come around as well!

P.S.S. Robin - I too saw you on TBI and thought you did a great job.  I hope you`re moving some product because of it!  (Sorry I`m not in the market for a ChicPeeks)
