Craig - correct ... ROI is not always about the financial side of things. You got it. Thanks.

Kick you ass and tell you afterward???? I don`t agree that this is their purpose or MO.

Thanks for clarifying the 5% statement. I understand.

I wanted to address this statement just to give a little more insight.

I am the 35 year old son of a WWII vet and his brother, my uncle was a medic on the Normandy Beach. I was taught differently that most people my age. I don’t necessarily mean physically kick your ass however, that was a possibility. My wife tells me that I am too hard on myself and that I can be judgmental at times. I say…So. We all are at times. I`m an open book, you`re welcome to judge me if you wish.

Now you know Sold, and this is my journey; I do not need affirmation. I need someone that can relate to me. Someone that still has the shoulder pads on. Someone that can bring it and back it up. Someone that isn`t afraid of getting dirty. Some one that can direct a blue-chip to the next level.

Thats what most of us want since were being honest~

I have gained more that 5% on this post. My hope is that people will continue to post and that it will not be negitave or spiteful. People are reading this for a reason. It is pure truth from a guy that wants to do better in business and great men and woman that were willing to help along the way.

Ultimately, the best truth is that if you want to be rich, hang out with rich people. If you want to be successful, hang out with successful people. Those folks in your daily contact system reflect who you are and where you want to be.

Going a little deeper, into the metaphysical side of things, you attract to you those people and opportunities that reflect what you envision---what you daydream about regularly. Maybe it sounds New Age or flighty, but there are valid psychological reasons for the process to work.

Just spending this amount of time on SuN, and with this thread, and contemplating in real detail what it means to "get to the next level" is already opening up a pathway for that goal to strike.

Clarity of vision leads to intuitions, bursts of inspiration, and the capability to recognize opportunity regardless of the disguise. But it all begins with clarity of vision. :-)

Soldu2:

I like your last post - I understand. My dad was WWII vet, too. Phillipines. Last Calvary unit that actually rode horses. Keep posting - I like your style.

Im not a gambler by any stretch, but will use a poker analogy. I see it as moving from a $5-$10 table to a $50,000-$100,000 table. It’s the same game just more highly skilled players with a psychological advantage. (Thats a big advantage)

I am from a very modest background to say the least.

I`m not a gambler either, but using your analogy, no one jumps from the $10 table to the $100,000 table in one step.

You have to chart a course that will lead from where you are to where you want to be. Success is like sailing, you never get where you want to go in a straight line. But keeping your eye on the goal, you know where this series of tacks will take you, even if no one else does. Sometimes the wind changes and it takes even longer to reach the desired goal. The key is to keep your eye on the goal and keep moving.

Thank you for your post Steve. My goals are written on 3x5 cards and look at them each day.

I also enjoy sailing and have even raced in the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta aboard a Concordia Yawl, though I do not consider myself a sailor, just an August warrior.

Sheesh, this has become one profound thread… ‘Thanks for stickin with me.’

I have started a new company and have successfully aligned with the largest real-estate company in my state. I am currently negotiating with a large media company that has a local news station in my city. They are interested in adding our services to their website and advertising it on their station however; they want to sell a large % of the product to offset their costs.

Selling the product is how I would make money, so it is sort-of a catch twenty-two.

At this point, I am most concerned with getting established in the marketplace. The money that isn’t realized in this (local) market can be made up in another market if all goes well.

This is where I am professionally. My Goal is to establish a successful business model locally and then take that model into other affiliate markets. The small steps are still being fine tuned ‘to Steve’s point’ it is almost a daily tack. I push myself to the threshold of my Scope. Scope-there it is again.

Thank you for your post too CraigL. I am processing it.

Isn`t there a bunch of info out there about how to really make money, use other people`s money (OPM)? If you can put yourself into the brokering stream, where you`re moving businesses back and forth, not products back and forth, that`ll be the start of the next level, I think. Maybe someone will argue the point. :-)

I have a feeling that this thread is just getting started and will benefit all that stick with it.

What I find interesting is that we`re involved in vastly different industries but we face so many of the same challenges. I suspect that is because our greatest challenges are inside, and inside we`re remarkably similar.

Humble beginnings are not a liability. In fact they can be an asset. You`re not too proud to do some of the things you might have to do to succeed. Speaking of doing what it takes to succeed, I was just reading a book, recommended here on SUN, called Self-Made in America. Click on this link, do a search in the book for the phrase "Le Van Vu" and read pages 100-103. Then let`s talk about some of the sacrifices we`re willing to make now in order to reach the desired level of success. We can get anywhere we want to go if we`re willing to pay the price of admission.

Let`s also at least make a note that being at the "next level" is partly a matter of Style.

Consider what would happen if you were to own a very large produce farm. You`re grossing, say, $500K per year from this monster, and you decide to take a trip to NYC to visit with Donald Trump. :-) Hey...I`m just trying to make an exaggerated example.

You walk into the meeting in jeans, a flannel shirt, and some work boots.

First impressions totally matter when you`re wheeling and dealing with the wealthy, the movers-and-shakers, and "the next-levelers."

So another step in preparing for that next level is to cultivate a sense of style, elegance, culture, and finesse. Language is crucial, as is knowing how to fit in without appearing to be a tourist.
