Last I heard, the transition assistance training offered to separating active duty personnel didn`t cover running your own business.  Has that changed?
Anyone aware of anything up and running outside of StartUpNation along these lines?  Anyone interested in helping out?

Hi Paul,
The likelihood of the military providing entrepreneurial advice is pretty small. That being said, there`s no particular reason why advice gained from public-sector and private sources wouldn`t apply. The main reason for a connection to the military would be to understand potential grants or programs available.

You might want to talk with someone from SCORE in your area, or your home area, to see if they can help. Additionally, you could focus your questions for the transition assistance folks regarding specific options for funding a company.

I`m not sure how being in the military would change anything unless your business is somehow related to the military.  Like all of us, you are probably on your own.  This is probably good news, consider the socialist crew that is currently running the gubment.

TAP will bring in SBA reps to present, but in my experience they are quite un-motivating and do more to discourage starting a business than encourage it.  If you are an independent (i.e. non-government) organization it`s very difficult to get into the program because they are concerned about companies trying to sell their services instead of providing education.  Perhaps we can get a petition or something going to allow those of us who actually want to see vets succeed have a shot at talking to them about entrepreneurship.
