I am thinking about doing evaluations for my employees. Any thoughts?
Hi Sporty,
I would try to make the evaluations as simple and straightforward as possible. They really need to be in a format that will help the employee improve and find value in the constructive criticism and positive grades. I always remember my evaluation when I was at a big company seemed like a waste of time and was pretty worth less to me. What type of company do you own? How many employees are there? Are there a lot of performance issues at the company or within your industry?
Absolutely do it! It'll help them grow which in turn helps you and your business grow.

The primary reason for having an employee evaluation program is to monitor employee’s performance, motivate staff and improve company morale. Employee evaluation is imperative as it assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives.
A well-developed employee is more likely to be proactive, productive and resourceful, which helps give the company a competitive edge, from improved customer relations to increased profits.
Employee evaluation is very vital in any company. Through this, both you and the employee will be able to determine the latter’s strongest and weakest points and together, you can work out on the worker’s need for improvement for everybody’s benefit. Several things must be taken into account when conducting the evaluation and some are:
1. Right from the start, let your employees know what your company’s goals are and what you are expecting from them as a part of your workforce.
2. Make this a periodical process so you’ll know if there’s improvement on their performance.
3. Recognize personnel who are showing willingness to get better and pay attention to those who lack enthusiasm.
Yes, go for Employee Evaluation. Just be firm and consistent with it.
Employee Evaluation provides a chance for your employees to construct a plan for their career development: prioritize and clarify their work duties, goals and roles, and therefore, create a reliable plan of action on how to get that salary increase, incentive, promotion or simple recognition.
By communicating what you expect from your employees, you encourage employee development: improvement in their morale, work quality and over-all performance. Giving your business a better chance for success.
