I have been following the thread for a while now and I'd like some advice.

I'm an accountant, but I've recently started my own home-based coaching business. It was mainly a way to get extra cash, but it's reallyy started to shape up.

We've hired an assistant and I'm partnering with a marketing consultant and another accountant to help small businesses.

 

Why am I sharing this?

 

We've decided to rent a small office space but since most of our business is on the phone I really need something efficient for my calls.

I was recommended a VoIP system, but I'm not sure how that goes -Can anyone offer any input or ideas as to what is the most efficient phone service I could get?

If I were you I would set up your phone system on the cloud (if you don´t know what I´m talking about, check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing). It´s more efficient, faster, you don´t need infrastructure so for a start-up company as yours it saves money and time. As for specific companies offering that kind of service, you will have to look on your own as there are many out there right now. We have a contract with ECT and it´s been a good service so far, so I can only recommend it.
