Hi All,

Good to see a `green` section to this site.

I`m helping a radical eco activist friend put together a website of all his writings and rantings over the years.

Sometimes I fear for his life and hope he doesn`t become a tourist courtesy of `extraordinary rendition`!

This is his site: www.ekogaia.org Keen to hear any comments you might have. It`s only been live for about 2wks but growing fast.

Cheers
Perry

Hi Perry,

the site looks pretty good. It is visually consistent, legible, and the navigation is clear. The only thing I might suggest is to put the blog on the front page, and put the front page content on an "about" page.

I`m not sure why you would think your friend is in danger from TPTB, or if he has tried shopping his work around to any of the big environmental news sites... grist.org, treehugger, and environmental news network all routinely publish similar material. I think not only is he not in danger, but that there is opportunity for him as an environmental journalist if that`s his chosen path.

Hi Paula,

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I`m not sure what you mean by TPTB, but I have yet to post up some of his more radical writings, which is  bound to create a bit of controversy. But that`s fine, too!

I will tell him to post his articles to the sites you suggested.

Regards,
Perry

I`m not gonna get too deep into this, can`t help but make a comment though ...

That said, you should make sure that what you say is not misleading. Anybody that knows a tad about it would almost instantly pick it up and the site looses credibility. For instance under `Genetic modification of food crops` you (or the site) state
"We are told by scientists involved in promoting GM food crops as a solution that this is simply an extension of traditional cross-breeding. This too is untrue...."

and link to the site were you got that from. Since I`ve never heard of anybody making such an outlandish claim I just had to follow the link :-) What they say is
"plant breeders often introduce new genetic variation in a crop species by exposing the seeds to gamma radiation or chemicals that cause genetic mutation. Much of the UK’s beer is produced using a mutant variety of barley called Golden Promise that was generated by radiation. GM technology by contrast..."

What you are claiming they say is untrue is the history they tell of traditional plant breeding NOT that of non Genetically Modified crop techniques.

Thanks, ElidS.

Fair comment which I`ve passed on to the author. We will be adding loads of articles and references later to the site, particularly to the GM section.

He is also behind this site: www.safeage.org, which gives an indication of his background and passion.

Cheers
Perry
