Kevin--
I`ve found your blogs helpful.
I`m not running a business on eBay or anything, but my wife and I are considering it as a means to "lighten the load" of some of our extra stuff... we`re anticipating a move in a year or so. But it sounds like that`s how a lot of folks got started.
So any basic "how-do-I-start" tips would be helpful.

I second that on the "how-do-I-start" tips. I`ve bought and sold some of my personal things, but I think that what I am mainly interested in is figuring out what to sell on eBay and finding a supplier.

Hi Kevin:  The Ebay blogs are a great addition

I`ve been selling on Ebay for years and I`d like to see a topic covering Ebay & dropshipping.

In the past, we found most of the dropshipper list info provided by Ebay and for sale by many other sites was basically useless.  Most sites are just selling lists of middlemen!  Now there are even infomercials encouraging people to build an Ebay business using the dropshipment method claiming it is very easy and you can find out how easy for only $49.95!

Building a good list of REAL dropshippers takes alot of work and is anything BUT easy.  It took us a very long time to find and build a rapport with manufacturers and others able to dropship.  Instead of wasting money buying these useless lists people should search out manufacturers and products and start making the calls.

I think dropshipping would be a great subject as I think there is a lot of interest in that method at this time.

Hi Kevin:  Another topic suggestion for the Ebay blogs..... Everything you need to know about SHIPPING.

Who ships the bigger stuff most cost effectively? (I like DHL).  Who ships the smaller stuff best?  (USPS works for me!) Who provides the best overall shipping service to Ebayers? and what services do they provide exactly?  How do you set up your own shipping department?  Shipping costs? Shipping time frames?  To ship worldwide or not?  Shipping charges.  Tracing shipments. Lost shipments, etc., etc., etc.

This topic would be helpful as it is a HUGE obstacle for many and trial and error with shipping is so costly.

Thanks

Thanks for the input gang - keep it coming.  I want to make this a very useful area for you here on StartupNation.com.

Rich - no problem doing a Blog with a discussion - that way I can hit both types of readers.  I`ll start a discussion on topics that warrant it.

The Swaynester -  Agreed!  I`ll do a Blog on what you actually need to start an Ebay business for both casual sellers and sellers who want to run a business.

MiteyMite -  dropshipping and shipping in general are both really good topics to discuss - we`ll do it!

Thanks!

People are always asking me: how do I figure out what to sell on Ebay?  I think that would make a good topic.

For what it is worth, I have represented software vendors who sold [and still sell] original software on e-bay.  You might want to have a look at the e-bay policies on that if you sell software or the like.  I got the impressions there were "robots" out there looking for software seller violations and issuing warnings and suspending accounts without first FULLY investigating what the facts were.
