I am curious to hear some feedback to the startup nation, those specifically with employees.

In todays workforce, what do you do to retain your best talen and make your company the most attractive to further hire the best in your industry?

Please reply with what industry you are in and some examples of your retention program.

For example, when I worked for an HR company, they used to offer large group health insruance, pay 100% of the employee only rate and allow a flexible work schedule and contributed X amount into the employee HSA and 401(k)...

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We are a start-up to early stage - we outsource all functions and hopefully can maintain that model.

If you must have employees:  I am a CPA, Virtual CFO, 28 years Corporate Executive, The programs that work are based on the integrity of the owner, the sharing of the vision, what, how, when, by what time, living the vision every day from the top level to the first level.  Its not about the money - consistent culture of respect, clarification of expectations and full accountability on all levels with all employees, no sacred cows!

I wrote a book on the subject in "A Woman`s Ladder To Success", available on Amazon because women think differently from men - we have to work at this even harder!

Look to Level 5 Leadership traits in "Good to Great" Jim Collins - that`s how you retain and build on the best employees for the best future -

It is all about modeling. You have to be a great leader, your team has to want to help you to acheive your business goal. You also have to respect and be open to ideas and opinions. You have to invoke change, innovate...excite.. you have to show respect and also expect nothing than their best. Rewarding is also a motivator, fair salary and a solid organized structure...feeds the need of a secure workplace. Encourage professional growth and be a mentor.
