Greetings S.U.N. Forum,

I really appreciate the wonderful insight that is being poured in and poured out on this forum and the invaluable knowledge one is accessing without paying a dime. I must confess it is really heartwarming. It was a wonderful platform for serious minded entrepreneurs to gain knowledge and apply the wisdom fetched. I commend all the contributors and promoters of the Startup Nation project.

I`m based in Nigeria and a Nigerian and currently my company(www.cbtnigeria.com) is the first online learning outfit in the nation providing lectures for ICAN Exams (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) synonymous to ACCA or CPA. Also we sell lecture materials in CDs but our major challenge has been driving up sales and getting students registered in the school.

We`ve engaged various marketing techniques but the enrolment turnout is still low though, we understand that students prefer to attend contemporary classes where the lecturers are visible and can quickly ask questions to clarify issues.

Please, kindly go to our website www.cbtnigeria and www.cbtcollegeonline.com and deck me with your constructive criticisms and your observations and the things you think we possibly do to better our position and increase our bottomline.

Merci!

How many Nigerian`s have access to the internet, or a computer? Is there any way you can offer your services as an "extention" of an accredited school? Is it possible to "offer" a computer to those who sign-on, as a part of a "parnership` between your company and local "participating" banking institution(s).

Try setting up an "affiliate program" with local investors/banks. It`s not uncommon to finance one`s education.

I like the second site better, the first one, www.cbtnigeria took too long to load and looked like some MLM system. It isn`t, I know, but it looked like it and felt like it. The second site was far more professional.

However, when I tried the "10 reasons why students choose...." it didn`t work.

We had someone from Nigeria not long ago, wondering about doing business from the country. Unfortunately, due to the massive number of email and phishing scams publicized around the globe, ANYthing involving the word "Nigeria" is totally suspect.

It doesn`t help that various links don`t work on the Web site. I`d like to see the font size in the copy increased to something like 11pt or 12pt, to make it easier to read. I`d also like for there to be more than I`d ordinarily look for, to demonstrate that this is a credible institute.

It`s why I think the second site is much more useful. It has a "look and feel" of a legitimate business. It needs only a bit more content, I think. It also needs a menu bar of some sort, to make navigation more user friendly.

Hello Craig,

How are you doing?  Thanks for your observation. If i may ask what do you mean by MLM system. I`ve been trying to decode it but i`m stuck. All the same all your comments are taken cognisance of and we`ll start work on it as soon as possible.

Perhaps you have some other things to say, feel free as i`m still learning a whole lot of things.

Hello Rumpelstiltskin,

Good day to you.

I`ve looked at your suggestions but you know the challenge we have is that our setup can be likened to a tuition centre where students pay and receive lectures and not an Institute that regulates or controls. So, the issue of setting up an affiliate program with investors/banks for education financing is still cloudy to me.

Can you please throw some light on this issue and possibly suggest ways to go about it?

Expectant

Regards

MLM = Multi-level marketing. Don`t worry about it...it was just a word image I used to describe the first site. It looked amateurish, is what I meant to say, and seemed designed as one of those "in your face" types of sales pitches that`s long on promises, short on delivery. It`s why I like the second site better.

The ITT Institute is a strong company here in the States. They too offer education, and perhaps you`ll see some useful ideas with the way they`re set up?
