I have been operating under "LASTNAME CONSULTING" since 2004. I have an immediate need to incorporate and am weighing options for S-corp or LLC right now. During my trade name and registered corporation name research for the state of Washington, I noticed another company has this since 2008:

"LASTNAME CONSULTING GROUP INC"

I wish to use...

"LASTNAME CONSULTING INC" or "LASTNAME CONSULTING LLC"

I have been told that if the name resembles another too closely it can be denied. I don't see any specific trademark infringement going on here (since it's my surname), but I'm curious if mine is unique enough since their name contains the word "group" as part of their incorporated entity name.
