Thank you all for being so supportive about my latest career change. Many of you may now know that after selling my online retail store, I have been working at re-entering the music industry. For more background related to this post, go to this “I Quit” post.

As promised, I give you the information about MY band. We’re still doing a little updating on the site, but you should be able to listen to some tunes. Keep in mind, the drummer featured on the recordings is not me. He is a fill-in drummer, for the session. I think he has a little trouble keeping a steady tempo.

Band Name: Letters Make Words
www.myspace.com/lettersmakewords

Tell me what you all think. Keep in mind. This is rock/alternative rock. There are two female lead vocalists and they “battle” the lyrical lines back and forth during verses. You can see a bit of this on the poor quality video a fan provided. Of course, poor quality or not… it’s cool the fan passed the video to us! Again, I am not found anywhere on the site except my name and link to my personal myspace page.

The old drummer is actually just a fill in. They really like one particular drummer that works with them, but he`s already employed by another band. And doesn`t want to leave it. They actually used three different drummers on the 6 song demo CD. So they are really looking for a drummer who can dedicate the proper time to the band.

As to the music... I am working on getting you all (anyone who wants it) a location to download the MP3s (6 of them). I would love to pass the final production CD by mail, but it`s too expensive for us to send out properly packaged material. Of course, you could buy a 6 song CD for $5, but wouldn`t you rather get the tunes for free?

stonesledge... thank you very much for your support! We are getting together for a meeting tonight. I should get some answers about how we plan to distribute our latest demo CD. Distribution is a pain, and with internet distribution, I will have to figure out if there`s an easy to use and free service for collecting funds for downloads. Since I sold my online retail store, I don`t have the funds transfer method I once had.

Maybe this is the time to look into paypal for online sales or something. I`ll keep you updated on how music distribution will take place.

Thanks

IOUONE2,
You know what, I read your other posting.... and sorry if I didn`t respond to it... for a moment I was shocked... that your were selling "Elusive treasures"... I guess it hit me hard because we go back a long time and I was remembering all the threads that used to go back and forth... You had huge passion for "Elusive"... and when I heard you were quitting it made me realize that it can happen to anyone, the good thing of it is, you had a good escape plan.
As for re-entering the music business, rock on man!!!, I don`t know if I ever shared this with you, but for many years I was in the music industry myself... and have many connections in the music industry. from CD re-production to, recording studio time. I sometimes miss the music industry.... but I had my share of crazy times......

How cool....seeing the site and knowing the back story! :-) Could you change the background color so the links show up? I couldn`t hardly see the blue on blue.

Meanwhile...there has to be a way to build on the "Letters make Words." As I looked over the site, I kept expecting to see some sort of story about how they came up with the name. Maybe it`s there, but it wasn`t immediately clear to me. It`s a cool name and offers all sorts of interesting possibilities.

Another distraction was that the music started when I hit the home page. But when I clicked one of the links to get to the "news" that they`d found a new drummer, the music stopped. Isn`t there a way to keep the music going as someone clicks onto different pages? (Of course they should have the option of turning off the music, which they do, so that`s okay.) In my case, this time, I actually wanted to listen...WHILE I browsed. :-)

So this drumming thing....is that where you bang on those big tubs I see when I watch TV?

CraigL... Yes there is still a lot of work to be applied to the website. But at least you can hear some tracks.
