Hello,

I need some help getting eyeballs to my site.  I have keywords, meta keywords, google adwords, submitted my site to probably 30 free directories (and am waiting to hear back from them), exchanged links with about 50 other websites, and I have a blog.  I revised the body/content of my products and have included internal links in product pages as well as on the homepage.  But, I feel like I`m getting no where.  I feel like I`m missing how to get my site out there and I really need help.  Oh, I also advertise on coupon sites to drive traffic that way.  I don`t know how to get inbound links to my site and I don`t want to keep pouring money down the drain with google adwords.  I`ve researched competition (and although there may be alot), they seem to be ranking so much higher than I am with less quality websites and higher prices.  Please help!  I`m really at a loss here and I don`t know if I need to hire someone for SEO Optimization or not?

Sincerely,

Jackie Reilly

Hello Jackie,

Hiring someone for SEO can be expensive. Much of the optimization can be done on your own, however you need to do the research yourself which is very time consuming. If I was to recommend anyone it would be HubSpot at www.hubspot.com. They charge $3000/year, but well worth the money. They offer a free website grading software called www.website.grader.com Try it...it`s free. Also, if you`re looking for SEO specific information, check out their blog.

Your Google rank is a 2 out of 10, which is not bad, but you`re lacking traffic. How old is your site? Keep in mind that it takes a while for the search engines to find the inbound links. If you go to www.alexa.com
you will notice that your site is not being tracked.

Try integrating GoogleAnalytics to track your current traffic.

Good luck.

Jackie,

Using Yahoo store can limit what can be done for SEO. Your site does have a good number of back links listed on Yahoo..BUT none listed on Google.

Your site is indexed by Google which is good.

What are your targeted keywords/phrases? You home page has so many different ones, it will be hard to get good search results from any of them - except for "beautiful wedding favors" Which is also your domain name.

Submitting to directories -  make sure that those directories do not have "nofollow" links. Also, that they are search engine friendly and not banded.

What do your web stats show? What`s the amount and sources of your traffic? Examine your stats to see what is and is not working to generate traffic.

You might consider creating specific landing pages (SEO) focused on one or two keywords... and link them to specific products.

Interestingly, the favorite icon for your site is Yahoo`s icon. :-(

FYI, exchanging links does not help you as much as in-bound links from quality and related websites.

Personally, viewing the site, I`d pour the money into some redesign innovations, not SEO. I did a search on the generic "wedding favors" and found 4,270,000 results. That`s 4 Million!

So let`s say I`m particularly looking for wedding favors and somehow end up on your site. I already KNOW what wedding favors are, and have either some idea of what I want, or I`m looking for inspiration.

When the first thing I see is a bunch of text, I get no satisfaction. With over 4 Million sites to choose from, I can afford to look-and-click in less than 5 seconds.

So I looked at some of your actual images for actual favors. I like the stick figures, but I don`t understand them. Are they meant to depict actual people holding the favors, or are they a thematic graphic like a logo or trademark used on each type of favor.

Combined, the lack of visual sales and the ambiguity of the existing images makes the site "too hard" for someone to stay and browse when they have that many options.

The key to visibility is a) visitors, and b) length of time visiting. You can get all the tricks and gimmicks going to boost visibility, but unless people start spreading the word, telling other people about your site, you`ll just slide down in the rankings again.

It`s not about becoming visible. It`s about getting people interested.

Patience is the key.

Generating traffic takes time and it doesn`t happen over night.

If you continually do the right things it will happen for you.

focus on creating quality content. each web page should be optimized as much as you can and focused on a high ranking keyword in your niche.  create them over time and watch the traffic rise. it does take time so be patient.  work on other link building strategies when you are not creating content.

Reilly, you may want to try a little online social networking as well. It can be a real boost to relevant traffic and traffic overall. Sites like Facebook, Windows Live and Twitter can be a good place to start.

yes speaking of which i forgot to mention earlier that although good content is key to seeing long term results, traffic is just not all about SEO. it is also about internet marketing. your ability to market well online will make a big difference to your success and traffic results...
