Hi All, I'm a new startup Web Solutions company in Jersey City, NJ. How do you feel about donating services to start word of mouth? I was thinking about providing web services to a local business and thought this was a great idea for free promotion?

Thanks,

NosSol

This is a great idea; I do something similar by offering free customer service to small businesses, see my website for details www.nos-sol.com/free-customer-service. If you like you can offer my service along with yours.

Cool, it's actually a good way to send out a press release to local news sources, then that could potentially get you more business, and also a good way of getting link backs for SEO.

It gets you out there.  Be careful of giving away too much for free or being perceived as bringing no value to the table but your services are free.  There are good strategies for service busines to give away some things for free without all of it.  Book Yourself Solid is a good resource on some of those strategies.

Several businesses start out with providing review offers. This means they offer their service for free in return of a review, testimonial or reference. Its the best way to start if you do not have a portfolio in my opinion.

Is there any notable Health Risks associated with plasma donation services? I'm a university student and don't have a job at the moment, and to offset small expenses like Netflix and the occasional fast food I'm considering donating plasma at a nearby Biolife. Apparently the plasma goes to a good cause (I already donate blood to the Red Cross, but that's for free), and the money would be nice, but for some reason my mom is uncomfortable with the process. Rather than donating blood where you fill a bag and that's the end of it, your blood is put back in your body. Is she being paranoid? Or is there really a good reason to skip donating plasma?
