Hi All,

I`ve seen different post on here about using domain name brokers to track down domain name owners. I was wondering if anyone has used the services of a broker and successfully obtained a domain name using their services.
I would also like any feedback as to domain name brokers that you have heard of, but not have used that provide similar services.

Thanks and God Bless,

Tyra

Not sure what a domain broker is or what the benefit of using one would be.  However, you can lookup any domain yourself using the Whois.org database.  Whois list contact and expiration information for you.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I could very well be using the name "domain name broker" incorrectly. But I am just referring to someone who can investigate further as to who owns the domain name. She`s called and there was not any contact information available.

Thanks for your feedback.

Just go to www.whois.org and do it yourself.

If you use the whois function on www.networksolutions.com you can try the "make an offer to buy this domain" link to try to buy the site from the owner.  They will use anonymous emails to negotiate the sale.  It does cost money to try though.

Thanks!

Network solutions is one of the more expensive domain registrars.  Anyone can look up the domain admin account and send a letter to inquire about buying the domain name.

yes - steve is right

in addition, you can purchase backordering services which alert you on which domains are available and which have expired and become available. you can then bid and purchase them....

godaddy has a reasonable product that keeps you up to date. no need to hire expensive brokers. not sure if i really know what domain brokers are..

Thanks for the feedback. I understand that you normally can do it yourself. But the truth is for some of the domains its not as easy as that. Some of them do not provide the contact information for the owner. This is why I asked about taking it to the next level.

Thanks!

Domain name brokers buy and sell domain names.

Many offer Domain Acquisition Services to help you acquire a domain that is currently registered.

Most Domain Name Registrars offer Domain Acquisition Services~ Godaddy.com, Sedo.com, Moniker.com are three big domain name registrars that provide Domain Acquisition Services.

yes i understand some people choose to mask their domain names. in that case you cannot directly get in touch with them, however through a monitoring program you can set an alert to see if that domain ever becomes available up for grabs in the market.

good luck
