I often get asked by home business owners whether or not they should develop a newsletter. The simple answer is a resounding yes!
Professional newsletters can bring to light the products and services your company offers. Newsletters should be informative, in addition to giving your potential customers coupons and other incentives that will draw them to your site.
Unfortunately, I have seen many home based startups throw away money on ineffective and poorly constructed newsletters.
Two of the most important steps to newsletter success are:
Commitment to consistency
Commit to consistency. Consistency is crucial to newsletter success. This is best achieved by limiting the number of pages. Avoid long and convoluted newsletters.
Easy to read copy
Body copy should be as transparent as possible. It's crucial to use a subdued yet professional typeface. I highly recommend a serif typeface such as Tomes Roman. You want the message to be the star of the show!
