I`ve used them and they`re great- especially as an alternative to a land line.  I haven`t tried their wireless phone though so I`m not sure how that stacks up.

I was referred by a friend and we both got the free months promised- he`s referred so many people that he actually got almost a free year.

The features are great- I loved being able to use the call forwarding option to forward to my cell when I wasn`t home and being able to check calls and VM online was great.

I ordered my Vonage service and got a pretty good deal.

-First Month Free
-Free Adapter Unit
-Free land line calls to Italy, France, Germany, and some other countries.  Not that I know tons of people there but it`s a nice feature.
-Free activation - Normally Vonage tries to stick you with a 30 activation fee but if you act like you aren`t going to activate during the phone call they will put you on hold and get it waived.  They do this everytime because I called 6 months ago to just to check them out and when I told them that I would call back after I talked with my wife they were quick to waive the activation fee.

TIP: act like you need to think it over and they will waive the $30 activation fee.

I will give you an update after I have had the service for a couple of months.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with Vonage. Poor voice quality.

The bad thing is that their service is really poor. If you call their account management department, you will be held waiting for forever. I just disconnected the service. It took me more than 2 months to stop the service.

We used Vonage for a few months but the quality was poor.  After limited success with their tech support staff, we dropped them and switched to Broadvoice, a competing VoIP carrier, and noticed much improved call quality.  As a bonus, Broadvoice is cheaper too. They are not as flashy or as big as Vonage, but the service has worked better for us, so we really didn`t care.

If you where having problems with the voice quality is because you probably had your badwidth on your Phone 90kbps.. You have to think as bandwidth as a compensating tool. If you have 256 K broadband... compensate by hiking it to 90K if you have 10 Meg Broadband like myself then you lower it to 30kbps. I found this to be useful. I`ve had Vonage for 3 years and never had a problem.
Good Luck..

Peter,

I wish you had been here a couple of days ago Broadvoice looks like a better deal.  I`ll have to eventually check them out.

I tried Vonage and did not like their support. I did in fact try www.MyVoiceEclipse.com and they gave me two lines, unlimited minutes and the rate was still cheaper than Vonage. Plus you can get a free phone on their homepage. Thanks.
